For Islam and justifiable cause, yes. I believe it would be farz in that case. For the sort of **** our country has gotten into recently, I'm not so sure. I'd probably run away.
Well to defend my Faith and my Beliefs definatley… in defence of the homeland yeah… especially if my death would save the lives of others. Then it would not be a death it would be a great Salvation.
I could gladly put my life on the line for my Country, not for the Politicians, not for the Mullahs, not for the reward in this World or the next… but for the sheer joy of throwing myself at a cause worthy of dying for… However I pray fervently that it never comes to that… not for my sake but for the others who must endure the horror of War.
Hm..'dying' for the country. I love the country where I'm from but I also love my life and think it's a blessing. I don't think I'd 'die' for it but I would hope to contribute in other ways towards the country's prosperity.
I would like to think so. I guess it is easy saying it on a forum. If push came to shove I think the type of person I am I would definitely sacrifice myself for a worthy cause. iA.
I do not think many people will die for Pakistan. What strikes me is how many people want to leave and run away just because the going gets tough. Not many want to stay back and fix the problem.
Yes I will and I bet every Pakistani here will too - Because this is why our mothers pray to Allah to give them Sons - who can scarifies their lives when our motherland needs it
Rehmat ki terha Sar pe Behnoo ki rida’ain hain
himat k leay humRa maooN ki duahain hain
Hum pe Raab ka ehsan
Hum Zinda qoam hain - paiNda qoum haiN
hum sab ki hi peychaN
Hum sab ka Pakistan
Blessed be the sacred land, Happy be the bounteous realm, Symbol of high resolve, Land of Pakistan.
**the answer to the question, to die in a war for worldly gains, is a big NO! most wars in modern times is fought for this purpose based on false pretences and faulty intelligence and, last but NOT the least, falsification.
YES, i will lay my life if it helps humanity in it's REAL and TRUE sense.**

what would come under justifiable cause? wouldn't it depend on the person. i remember reading a verse in the quran about never trusting the source or what would be considered "news media" during those times(those times when islam was founded in) and to find out for yourself. i'm paraphrasing b/c i don't have the actual verse memorized....
and in relation to your last sentence, where would you run away to? :D :p
personally, i have an intense amount of respect for those soldiers that have given up and would give up their lives, limbs and everything for their country. a salute to those brave soldiers of every country, including my country.
war shouldn't be something that's promoted though.
i really don't see any difference between blind faith in religion and blind patriotism. a soldier has to have blind patriotism in order to fight for his/her country same thing with blind faith right? human beings are more important so the two mean the same thing for me.
