Would you change your name ?

Re: Would you change your name ?

Well my name is easy enough, but funny thing is Pronunciation. They call me Nayyeem in central Europe, & in Spain it becomes Nakhim. But ya why not if u have an easy name change it to something nice like

Mutazalal-ur-rehman Taararr .. or
Sab'ghat-ullah Qadari.

Re: Would you change your name ?

My name is impossible for most Turks to pronounce, as they don't have two of the alphabets which are used in my name. So I tell them my middle name, Ahmed.

Re: Would you change your name ?

I think my name is easy enough to pronounce and even if it wasnt i wouldnt change it because of someone :halo:

Re: Would you change your name ?

No, I wouldn't change my name. Or let them call me by an easier nickname, as many real estate agents here do.

Re: Would you change your name ?

No, i tell people my real name which no gora can pronounce properly because they don't have the 'kh' sound in english, but i don't mind if they are unable to pronounce it 100% right as long as they come close to it.

Re: Would you change your name ?

same here ..
never in a million years :)

Re: Would you change your name ?

I'd think a full name change will be confusing. No?

The correct pronounciation of my name does not reflect the actual spelling (for those who don't know, my name is my nick here). Many people try to pronounce it based on its spelling and butcher it (Faa-ee-saal). If its a person I intend to or expect to interact in the future, then I'd help them get the correct pronounciation (most get it in a couple of tries), otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

Re: Would you change your name ?

^ I work with an Egyptian guy named Faisal who goes by Fazio. I always make sure to give him a hard time about that.

Re: Would you change your name ?

some people really have no choice and they need to change their names…i know this guy, his name is ‘Khawar’ and but here he has been called as khawAAr … :hehe:… he end up nicknaming himself to kenneth or something…

Re: Would you change your name ?

I always use my last name… :chai:

**And by the way why shall I change it? :hoonh: **
Those who can’t pronounce should learn it :smilestar: coz I’m not gonna change my name. :barbie:

Re: Would you change your name ?

i wud neva do that and those who do it ...i think they r just cases of low self-esteem.

Re: Would you change your name ?

ya, i wanted to be my name fajar

i prefer something really really hard to pronounce

Re: Would you change your name ?

not always
a name that sounds funny can be an issue in school and at work as well.

names like Anis, Anas, Fakhar, can cause issues.
same if u have name like Osama, saddam

although, iknow someone named Osama at a client and ourppl and their ppl dont think much of it. maybe its more in our heads than others. maybe its somewhere in between.

Re: Would you change your name ?

i think mine’s a bit hard to pronounce. Whenever I tell someone my full name they think i said ‘ann marie’ which is stupid so i just stick with amber. Also, my family calls me amber anyways, so it’s no big deal.
What’s funny is that i told people at work that my name’s amber but some of them didnt belive me. They were like what’s your REAL name? When i told em, ofcourse, they were confused :smack: so they stuck with amber. And I dont know why, but now everybody calls me by my real name … maybe they practiced my name or something LOL.

Re: Would you change your name ?

^^ann marie? haha...that's funny...

Re: Would you change your name ?

i will never change my name

Re: Would you change your name ?

I'd change my name to something more difficult for them to pronounce. :D
