We take computers from big corporations (the ones discarded after company use since most companies only have computers in rotation for 3 years), take them apart, put the best parts together and then export it to third world countries (Nigeria, etc).
We were talking in class and most of the folks said they wont buy used computers and they have to be brand new for them to even consider it. I have bought a lot of used computers off craigslist and turned them around after wiping the hard drives and installing Linux on them.
If there is a need then there is no harm in going the cheaper route. Most of the users don't need blazing fast CPUs or have 4K displays anyway. Buying used stuff and assembling them together to get more storage and RAM is fun.
If it's an Apple laptop, I would not mind buying. In fact my MacBook pro is a used laptop that I bought from a friend. Also recently purchased a used chrome book for my daughter.

I totally agree with the Apple. I would love to buy it as well but they don't come cheap even used.

For car, I would rather buy a couple of years old used luxury car than a brand new mid size sedan. We just did that last year for wife’s car and she is loving driving her 2010 Lincoln than a new Honda accord

Its better if they have some kind of dealership warranty.
That depends who or what you are buying it for. For example I wont buy used one for myself cuz I know my usage is very extensive. But wont mind it for my bhanja bhateeja unless its so bad that they throw it on my face.
Btw, I like the line of business you mentioned in OP

Thanks! I liked it too. Its a co-sit project between MBA and Masters in Project Management.
Nop, computer software changes pretty quickly. I would want something brand new, and I think the shelf life of laptops is around 2-3 years anyway I wouldn't want something used.
