Re: Would you buy a used computer?
If its an apple laptop, I would buy it keeping into account its condition. I bought a slightly used apple laptop, top of the line specs and im loving it.

Re: Would you buy a used computer?
I would buy a used one but I would check the laptop personally before payment is done. Mostly I buy Refurbished one directly from Company website.

Btw, may be offtopic but Ebay has been hacked so existing accounts should have the passwords changed as suggested.
Re: Would you buy a used computer?
Wrong about cars, Mahool.
I bought a refurbished laptop online. It reeked of cigarette smoke. I have zero tolerance for that. Needless to say it was sent on its way back immediately. ![]()

Re: Would you buy a used computer?
I buy both used.
Computer: A 3 year old off-lease system these days is usually way more than what the average user requires. Instead of shipping these computers to Nigeria, Pakistan etc (where you have sharks who collect these 'donated' computers and sell them at market prices), reduce your carbon trail and sell them to local mom and pop computer shops in bulk. I know atleast 4-5 shops in Mississauga alone who buy off-lease systems in bulk, hire a geek to refresh all the systems and sell them on to the public for cheap.
Car: I never buy brand new. The price of a car drops 10% the moment you sign the dotted line. Buy a 3 year old used car which is usually still as good as new. When you buy Japanese (Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti) you can safely buy cars at the 100,000 km mark and expect them to last you till 300,000 km. And unlike Ford/Mercury/Lincoln/Mazda, Chev/GM, Dodge/Chrysler Japanese cars retain their $value$ even in difficult times.

There are freeware tools that can run military grade wipe on your harddrive. Literally zero out every bit on your hdd. Or simply pluck out the hard drive, insert a used hard drive and sell the computer.
