So I got bitched at for saying yes to this question. I told this chick that I would let my daughter date if she is responsible, mature and I approve of the guy. She gave me the whole nine yards on Islam and culture. Ironically enough I am meeting her this weekend for coffee. Don’t you think same rules should apply on you as you would force on your children?

I’ve never ‘dated’ myself, so I don’t know if I’d be comfortable with my daugher dating on her own. If I knew the guy and approved of him, I think I’d be ok with it.

no way...why should the same rules apply?.....if she is dating, then thats becoz she prefers her own choice to her parents......if she tomorrow wants to stop her daughter from dating,thats coz she again prefers her own choice than her daugter's...u can use Islam when u want to, who can say its wrong?

I think as long as she is meeting you in a Public place she is not doing any thing wrong, and if she wants this for her children as well I don’t see anything wrong in that as well.

maybe.. if they are old enough (read 25/26 years old :D), mature enough to understand what is right and wrong, within the limits, and only if i approve of their "date".
forget it, i am buying my daughter a burkah n she is staying home with me, infront of my eyes. not because i won't trust my daughter with her decisions.. i just don't think i can trust the world around her.

ma mooli : well can u blame them? with all the negativities that is being shown on tv/news, like date rape, kidnapping, molestation, drugs.. i'd need a big DIL GURDA to send my daughter out like that with anyone. its always easy to think that THIS can never happen to one of ur own, till it does, better be safe than sorry?

Yes, you can blame them. They are being overtly protective. Just because there are tonnes of assholes in the world doesn't mean there aren't millions of nice, caring, friendly, sexy, likeable dudes out there too.
