i think it's up to the wife to decide if she would wear hijaab or not and that criteria must be to please God, NOT husband.

YES I would ! Although religious reasons should be the first priority but doing it for the husband comes under the same religious obligation FOR ME.

BUT it would really matter for me the way he tells me to do it.. ordering or disclosing his wish politely

Probably yes. But like one of the posters here mentioned, it also depends on how he asks me to.

I know a friend of mine started wearing niqab because her husband asked her to and she was quite happy with it, Mashaa Allah.

Wives should make a deal, "I'll wear Hijab after you get a flat stomach or at least workout".

The question is not saying would you obey his demands to wear abaya, but would you choose to wear abaya in order to please him, knowing he will like you to wear it, (but never asks you to do so?) ... Pleasing the spouse is a partner thing to do ... Isn't it?

Is it too much for the modern Muslima to understand that when her husband desires for her a certain conservative attire, it is borne out of his desire to honour her and cherish her as his own prize, suitable for his eyes only? Would it please you to feel attractive to many men, but at the same time hurting the feelings of the man in your life?

This is just a question to help evaluate the fuller picture here.

No, I would not.

He obviously knew before marriage that I don’t wear hijab/abaya. Yet he still chose to marry me. If having a wife who wore hijab/abaya was so important to him (ie. it just hurts him soooo deeply to see me going outside the home without it :rolleyes:)…then he should’ve married a woman who either already wore those garments OR agreed to wear it BEFORE signing the nikah papers.
