In Pakistan it could be sect (as majority are Muslims) and ethnicity, in my short career in Pakistan I didn't face such problem, everyone was very friendly with each other.

So basically, regardless of what the news is, you will not have to hear any unwanted remarks or dumb questions?

Do you have to be Politically Correct at work in Pakistan? Work as in professional office jobs. Do women have problems there due to men's attitudes?

In our workplace we had different sects of Sunni, we used to talk about different issues and make jokes about each other on issues we had differences but in the end it was nothing serious. I am sure there are all kinds of work environment and some of them would be suffering from what you are saying here, esp the 'wahabi' people must be getting tortured these days.

If you are a "boss" then I guess you do play politically correct but as colleagues you don't have to. I don't know much about women facing problems due to attitudes I am sure there are guppans (Seema??) who work in office environment in Pak who can give better idea.
