But to respond to you, simply focus on the “if” in your last paragraph.

Like 09 said, absence of intelligent beings does not make us the most intelligent ones. Aliens could already be here without ever exposing themselves to us. Like Philosophy said, intelligence can be measured in many different ways and does not have one definition.
