Would consider marrying someone who is Shia Muslim when you are Sunni Muslim or vice versa? Would that create problem/s between a couple later on?

Yes genius..especially if you and your families are religious. This can be a problem.

Mostly depends on how religious you and him are.. Also what sort of Shia that person is, I think there are differences within Shiism in regards to what they believe, how they pray etc..
A lot of (mainly Sunni) imams believe Sunni/Shia marriage isn't even valid but then some are ok with it.. I know a Shia girl married to a Christian guy so it all depends on your individual situation, how practising you are (if at all) and so on.. My brother used to want to marry a Shia Iranian girl and my mum was fine with it even tho she's very religiously conservative.. We know a few Sunni (desi) girls married to Shia (non-desi) men and they seem to be getting on fine as well.. I would do it if there weren't major practical differences..

My reasons r quite simple though! Marriage in itself is a big life change and alot of adjustments need to be made so i would def not like any added challenge(s) to go with it

IMO, there is an urgent need for more inter-marrying both within the different sects of religions and the religions themselves. It'll help to bring the level of animosity between religions down.

Nope, wouldn't marry them. Most couples I know who are shia/sunni have never worked out. Probably 1 in 10 have been able to get married. There's a reason for that.

I know half a dozen that are still together after 5+ years.. but then again they aren't religious..

i know a couple where the guy is sunni and the girl is shia not desi though. seems to work for them.
I personally would try to avoid it if arranged, can create problems in future.

Alright what the fuss anyway? If you went on to like someone from ome other sect and decided to marry them too, I think sect is something which is relatively less important. You are muslim and you believe they are too, right? whats left then? Keep a low profie, dont practice your particular sect much in front of your inlaw, thats it.
Well i believe its basically how moderate you are, in your approaches. If you can bear other sects, its fine. If you are an extremist one practicing your own sect, then maybe it will be a problem for those who oppose yours, but then I think you wont marry inter out of sect in the very first place, right?
after marriages anyway, I think people learn to manage and understand/ have a respect for the other sect too.
