and what is a valid reason in your ‘opinion’
medical reasons are not just of physical trauma but of mental trauma as well.
again all we have to work with is opinions and ruliongs and not clear "commands’ therefore logic rules.
Agreed......but mental trauma cannot be measured reliably. I am not saying it does not occur or its not important. What is being said is that its not enough reason to kill the potential human being.
Social and govt. level help must be provided for these women.
I think valid medical reasons are beyond the scope of our discussion but if you are interested then search medical sites or in short I can say the reason would be like congenital malformation, lack of rise in HCG level, intra-uterine growth retardation (IUGR), eclampsia/pre-eclampsia, mother's physical condition threatening her life... etc. etc. etc.
But not really the emotional trauma. She will need full support and encouragement however.
Now one way out! I just thought of adding it to discussion...
Morning-after pill as it is commonly called is an option RIGHT AFTER or ASAP AFTER rape. the conception might not occur 'naturally' (since no one can assure conception after sexual act) or by using the pill..either way it may not be called 'murder'.....! This can avoid all the hype of weather abortion need to be performed or not. Hope I am clear enough.
The morning after pill is a good solution provided the girl makes the rape public right after. While it may be easy for us to say why not, based on our societal taboos which still manage to blame the family and have this as a point against girls family. IN many cases in Pakistan teh girls raped are servants and can nither confide nor get help right away.
Now as far as your reasons for abortion. I dont see any ruling that congenital malformation is reasons enough for 'murder' as you call it.
That is a very gud idea, however, in this country it is fast becoming very difficult to obtain Emergency Contraception/PlanB (the pill ur talking about), even if a doctor had prescribed it for a rape victim.
People commonly mistake it for being the abortion pill (RU486) which it is not; it simply prevents misconception, not eradicate an existing pregnancy.
Unfortunately, because of many right wing conservative Christian politicians who are aiming to get rid of all birth control education and preach abstinence only in schools, many misconceptions about this pill (and others) are floating around, and ppl often lump it into one category (abortion). Condoms, IUD, Pills, those are all bith control, abortion is NOT.
So yeah Plan B is definitely a gud thing, in the case of rape, however, there is chance for it to be heavily abused by women who sleep with a man without any care because they think “hey i can always get Plan B” which is not its initial intention.
This is the case in US, and I really doubt that birth control is really “taught” in Pakistan (yet) so unless ther’es more education on it there, sadly I think abortion will remain an option for rape victims
Even in open societies there will be cases un-disclosed due to society taboo. Do you think EVERY woman EVERYWHERE in the world will come out shouting I was raped?
We can only do our best to reform laws and social expectations in such a way to encourage these victims to seek help.
Servants or no servants I think you would agree there is lot more that we just do not know crimes like this ocurring anywhere in the world. So lay off your comment against Pakistan sir.
You love to argue don't you?
If it makes you feel better I think I would add what I did not add earlier just for the sake of short answer...... that SEVERE congenital malformation which may eventually lead to spontaneous miscarriage and bleeding such as neural tube defect is a valid reason for doing active abortion (Dilatation & Evacuation-D&E ). Congenital malformations are the leading causes of miscarriage.
Remember, the discussion is not what are the medical reasons for abortion.

Errr how many of these "open" societies as you refer to them are really concerned with whether abortion is allowed in islam or not ;)
This is not a comment against Pakistan, but I guess chorr ki darrhi mein tinka. This occurs in many other countries, but a subset of them would be concerned with whether abortion is allowed by islam.

well
1- I just have a very bad habit of respnding to illogical circular and baseless proclamations and statements.
2- for argument in a discussion there need to be two people, so its rich coming from you saying that I love to argue. hey if you did not just have to respond back with your murghay ki aik taang there would be no argument now would there. One person arguing alone either has some issues or some massive mutliple personality deal going.
Anyways, nothing more to be gained here. Please enjoy murghay ki aik taang, the tinka in the darrhi, and typing the same thing over and over again ;)
I am out, but am certain you will not be able to leave this thread without respnding yet again. shabaash
