i was a new immigrant to Canada. i started my graduate program. the university i attended was on an island and, s a result, very few Desi female students were there.
there was this Pakistani Christian girl from Sialkot who was doing her final year of Master's program. we became good friends. she used to talk about her fiance' back home a lot. she would talk 'everything' about her relationship with him.
the day she was leaving Canada for good, she told me that she did NOT have any fiance' and that she made up everything to keep our friendship 'pure'..whatever that 'pure friendship' meant to her.
i think she made up the whole story to keep me away from turning the friendship into a romantic relationship. lolz :(
Same story with me but after some months she only told me in the class that she is not engaged and that was my first and last crush.
After this all of my first dates were sooper.

Man, was that Newfoundland Uni.??
While I was doing A Levels, we had a seminar at our college and this ****ty canadian uni representatives were there. They invited us and fr some stupid reason I and fellow mates visited them.
We were supposed to meet up for dinner and since I was living in the city with no car, I asked him if he’d be okay picking me up from work. He said he’d be fine with it. I gave him the address and we were to meet around 6pm.
6pm comes by and I got stuck with a client who was a bit difficult which meant dude was waiting and I was running late. I text him apologizing for the delay and to please give me a few more minutes. I was fifteen minutes late coming downstairs.
When I get in the car, I again said sorry and thanks for picking me up.
He smiled and said “its not a problem…I am sure you were talking to your boyfriend”.
What?
“You girls who work…you must have boyfriends at work so you must be talking to him.”
“Boyfriend? I texted you earlier saying I have a client and I am running late.”
“Client? Boyfriend? I get it” - with a nasty smile as if there was an inside joke
“Please pull over”
“What? I am sorry!”
“PULL OVER!!!”
I popped out and got into a cab home right in front of his face. I was not about to waste my evening explaining myself to someone I met for the first time. You’re lucky you got to pick me up.
Mine was more like first time meeting an old friend/crush after my wedding (and 2 kids).
It was cool in the beginning but somehow we talked about a mutual friend. I instantly thought of a disturbing thing I saw that day on FB.
That certain person’s teen sister had recently updated her profile to ‘working at Durex’. When I told him, he didn’t believe me. He checked her profile and started laughing. I was stunned when he showed me his phone : ‘working at Rolex’. I swore on my kids that what I saw wasn’t my imagination. The conversation got even more awkward, dirty looks and whatnot. I left as soon as I could.
OK, I'll add mine, not nearly as bad as a lot of people here. Disclaimer: Please don't judge, please don't give me your religious edicts, I don't care.
My first and last date with Peggy, an Asian girl and a cheerleader for the PSU Vikings (Go Vikings!), was going well, we had dinner, we went for a nice long walk along the water front, she held on to my arm for most of the evening, things were going great. We then ducked into a theater to "watch" Philadelphia (great movie with Denzel Washington and Antonio Banderas, nice soundtrack too), we'd both already seen it. This is where things went horribly wrong, we started to kiss and her breath was ATROCIOUS! I backed away after about 20 seconds of making out because I was gagging. I tried to play it off as "hey let's watch the movie" but she was very definitely interested in other activities and I just could not bring myself to deal with whatever devil sludge was brewing in her digestive system. I guess I didn't handle it well, we got into a HUGE fight in a movie theater with other people watching and then she called me a jerk and walked out, and I looked like the bad guy. Sheesh. Needless to say, I never dated an Asian girl after that incident.
^ Haha that's hilarious. Asian people are probably the only ones on work with worse breath than us desis after a salan full of onions. I always had to sit back at work :/
