World Cup - No more joy to watch

With the exit of South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan this World Cup is merely a joke. I don’t care how bad these three countries have played so far, they still are a huge factor in bringing excitement and suspense to a cricket match.

I wasn’t so disinterested with the exit of Pakistan but with no more Afrikaans, this tournament has lost the edge for me.

Your thoughts?

Well Pakistan and South Africa were the only team who had a chance of challenging the Aussies but that won't happen.
New Zeland, India, Kenya, will be crushed by the Aussies.

I see this for semis:

Aus vs Ken
Ind vs SL

Aus and Kenya play the D/N semifinal at Newlands. Kenya wins the toss and put 198 on the board. Australia all out for 142. Obuya 8 for 12 from his 10 overs.

India beats Sri Lanka easily.

Final ..Ind vs Kenya

True, but India, Australia and Sri Lanka are still there, and I'm sure India or Australia games will be entertaining to watch.

Couldn't agree more fg. I might even have backed India but the pathetic response of Indians on this board to their win over Pakistan has changed that for good. I hope they get stuffed in the semis, whoever they play.

SA, Windies and Pakistan especially brought some flair and box-office to these tournaments and it's looking dull for the loss of these teams (us especially).

I agree that the edge is gone. Its gonne be a plain sailing for Australia. But on the other hand i presume NewZealand are going to be very dangerous to australia and even india. I think NZL will qualify for the semis alongwith three teams from pool A.

i agree.......they might as well hand aussies the trophy now and call it.

Yo Aussies,

Here comes, Muttiah Muralitharan. :biggthumb

Expect a fight of only 5, instead of 6.

I expect New Zealand to beat their rivals Australia, if out of any of the teams in the competition.

A World Cup without South Africa is too akward. I am feeling depressed by the fact of Boucher thinking he had the right amount of runs required when he could have got one more for a birth.

Sometimes life is just that way. Sigh.

I'm rooting for Kenya all the way baby!

Very likely

and as usual Kenya beating India?? :rotfl:

Wake up Sohaib !!

Well, I agree with you Fun Guy - World Cup wont be fun without SA and PAK. But I am happy that 2 of the biggest whinners are out of the world cup.

Xtreme - Who cares If India looses in Super Six or Semis, Indian team has performed beyond our expectations and btw you supporting India - Who are you kidding ?

About the behaviour of Indians, where were you when since last year Pakis called names to Indian players, or bragged about how Pak was going to kick Indian A$$ on 1st march and how Indians were scared to play pak and what not. I can understand the pain you have gone thru.

Asif_k, I dont post in this forum at all and honestly couldn't care less about the childish fights both sides here induldge into.

But Indian posters' response to India's win on March 1st has been appalling to say the least. So much so that some of them didn't spare bringing the terrorist factor in the debate. That was truly pathetic and ignorant.

Scratch - I know, I was online and watching all the fights and tried my best to stop it but hey I dont blame the Indian - After all he waited patiently for this day.

Can you imagine coming to this forum for more than an year and everytime we talked about Team India some Idiot came up and Pak is going to Kick Indian A$$, or Shoaib is going to Paint Tendulkar's A$$ ruby red, or abusing Sachin, and other players ?? Where were you at that time ??

Someone please pinch me... Is South Africa really out before the Super Sixes? :o :(

this world cup is absolutely pathetic.

The saffies got robbed again. For some reason I've always loved this team especially when they played under Hansie. They had this killer instinct then that has deserted them now. Don't worry guys, you'll pick up the World Cup one day. Man, as much as I was thrilled by Kenya's game they shouldn't be playing the Sixes in place of the Saffies and the Windians. This is just too sad.

These ICC idiots fix one past blunder only to introduce another one. They shouldn't have scheduled the WC in the rainy season. If they did, they must have reserve days. Also, I think the ICC should introduce three finals instead of one. Three gives both teams to flex their muscles. Any time can have an off day and the world cup is such a big prize that teams should be allowed to redeem themselves.

What do you guys think?

SA lost because they failed to beat any important team......which is the whole purpose of group matches. They only got their last chance because WI got screwed out of their 2 runs....even then their performance was mediocre against the Lankans and nothing was etched in stone that they would get 40 runs off 30 balls. They have no one to blame but themselves. WI on the other hand lost to NZ and SL so their chances were already bleak. In the end its simple....the teams that played and fought hard went through (besides zimbabwe)

The only complaints I ever had about this WC was the timing of the matches. First of all none of the matches should have been day/night, alot of teams like Pakistan/England/South Africa were screwed from that. And second of all, the time of the year WC took place, Feb-March, the time where it rains more than any other time of the year in South Africa, WCs are always good in the summer, even in WC 92, so many teams were screwed because of rain, (South Africa, England)

How idiotic is it to blame the rainy reason now? Considering it rains on all the teams and therefore it is more important to win the remainder of the matches and that you are awarded 2 points for a washout eventhough you would have lost anyway. This is all just monday morning quarterbacking. SA and Pak lost because they played like ass. That's it!!

Chaltahai baji, no one is making any excuses about Pakistan, because they beat themselves and they deserved to go out regardless of what happend today but teams like West Indies were defintly screwed, they had almost beaten the Bangalis but then came the rain pouring down and the match was abandoned, and both Bangladesh and Windies shared 2 points and that helped Kenya qualify for the super 6s.

If Windies had won then, Kenya, Newzealand and Windies would have been in a 3 way tie and the 2 teams with better NRR would have gone to super 6s, and Kenya would have been left behind.
