Re: world cup in less than a month

Spain or France

Re: world cup in less than a month

my money is on spain or brazil.
although argentina is pakistanis fav since falklands war :) they are inconsistent and barely even made it to the worldcup, same for france, great players, bad team. Portugal is a shadow of what is once was, some of their best players are gone, they had a chance a few years ago, and they blew it. England is a hodge podge, they also had better players last time around but played pathetic as a team, this time the team is playing better together but overall quality is lacking. Germans will do good until diving stops working for them, holland has a good squad as well but depth can be questioned. a couple of injuries or red cards and they are in serious trouble.

anyways, observation of the day..at any given minute in any given match the probability that atleast one german player is lying on the ground whining is at about 75%, when they attack and cant control the ball...dive, when they are defending and cant tackle properly run into the dude and then fall down as if he stabbed you.

are you talking about England?

nope, dont think many german players play for england ;)

France is gona win

Re: world cup in less than a month

the way english football is played I thought you were talking about the Premiere League. The stage of divers, whiners, stabbers...

Re: world cup in less than a month

Spain is very strong this year.

Iran or Saudi Arabia :D

Re: world cup in less than a month

this WC is going to be quite boring I think.

Although a few world class players will be on display, there will be much fewer compared to previous WCs. The only handful world class players I can come up are Messi, fake Ronaldo, Villa, Drogba (perhaps add Robben, Sneijder, and Lampard).
E.g. in the previous world cup one could easily count dozen of such players (the likes of Totti, Zidane, Figo, Nedved, Drogba, Cannavaro, Pirlo, original Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Ballack, etc etc)

Moreover, consider the number of good-great players not selected or injured:

Cambiasso
Zanetti
Pato
Ronaldinho
Diego
Ballack
Beckham
Benzema
Van Nistelrooij
Totti
Cassano
Nasri

Re: world cup in less than a month

btw this year it’s the best chance for Holland or England to win the cup. Considering the competition from other teams this is their best opportunity in years to claim the prize:

Argentina: one of the most talented teams; but some glaring omissions (Cambiasso, Zanetti); They have TWO big problems: their midfield is very old (who selects a 36-year old past-his-prime-playing-in-Argentina Veron as playmaker? ). Their second problem is even bigger: Maradona is their coach. My prediction: semi-final

Brazil: again some unbelievable omissions: Pato and Ronaldinho. Apart from Kaka (who is out of form) they don’t seem to have a daunting attack. My prediction: quarter-final

France: Domenech is a fool. My prediction: first knock-out stage.

Spain: on paper the best team. However, whereas their football was innovative and appealing, it seems as if other teams are starting to understand how to play against them. One could notice it already last year when they got beaten comprehensively by US during the Confed Cup. Moreover, when looking at club level, you again see that the likes of Inter have the tools to dislodge their style of play and they don’t have a back-up plan. Moreover, keep in mind that most of their most important players have played close to 50 games this season (Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Villa, Puyol). My prediction: (semi-)final

Italy: too old a team; basically the same as 4 years ago, but without Totti and without any good striker. My prediction: They should be happy if they survive the first knock-out stage.
