As I'll be flying to Lahore 2 days before the World Cup final on 11th July: Does anyone know where in Lahore I could watch the final? Here in Dubai there are loads of venues where they show the matches on big screens (apart from the TV coverage). Is there anything similar in Lahore?

btw this year it’s the best chance for Holland or England to win the cup. Considering the competition from other teams this is their best opportunity in years to claim the prize:

Argentina: one of the most talented teams; but some glaring omissions (Cambiasso, Zanetti); They have TWO big problems: their midfield is very old (who selects a 36-year old past-his-prime-playing-in-Argentina Veron as playmaker? ). Their second problem is even bigger: Maradona is their coach. My prediction: semi-final

Brazil: again some unbelievable omissions: Pato and Ronaldinho. Apart from Kaka (who is out of form) they don’t seem to have a daunting attack. My prediction: quarter-final

France: Domenech is a fool. My prediction: first knock-out stage.

Spain: on paper the best team. However, whereas their football was innovative and appealing, it seems as if other teams are starting to understand how to play against them. One could notice it already last year when they got beaten comprehensively by US during the Confed Cup. Moreover, when looking at club level, you again see that the likes of Inter have the tools to dislodge their style of play and they don’t have a back-up plan. Moreover, keep in mind that most of their most important players have played close to 50 games this season (Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Villa, Puyol). My prediction: (semi-)final

Italy: too old a team; basically the same as 4 years ago, but without Totti and without any good striker. My prediction: They should be happy if they survive the first knock-out stage.

I agree with pretty much everything you said about the teams but I think this is not England’s year, team lacks depth, if the party boys of 4 years ago had a better attitude, better manager and the WAGs topi drama was kept out they would have been a formidable squad, currently i dont know. I am an england supporter, but dont think they have what it takes. holland may have a better shot, but couple of injuries or foul troubles and they run into massive trouble.

Brazil got an ugly style now, but its the international version of the chosen one’s style I guess..designed to win not to entertain.

I think this year its a much more level field compared to previous years..

France could be a contender but you nailed it domenech is horrid, how he can not destroy the likes of ireland with the sheer amount of talent at his disposal i dont know

would love to see african nations make some noise this year

On the subject of Spain, I reckon we’ll be alright. The confederations cup defeat was a bit of a shock but by no means did they play poorly imo, it’s just the USA were exceptional.

I’m still cut up over Raul retiring though I know it was ages ago but I still think he had plenty to offer in the experience stakes especially since the team is relatively young.

There are many places in Lahore that screen finals of worldcups or Pak-India matches - mostly restaurants including Hardees, McDonalds, Cafe Noir, Copper Kettle,Cafe Zouk, Pizza Hut most restaurants on M.M.Alam.Other than that bowling alleys like SilverStar & UpTown L.A also air finals. In Islamabad, they are aired on big screens in huge markets like Jinnah Super.

Do let me know which place you finally select. Also, if you want a private family reservation or something get it in advance as soon as you get there.
