Neither team looks like scoring.
Re: World Cup - Group G
0-0 … a very accurate description of the game. Nothing worth recording happened.

Re: World Cup - Group G
Henry looked like he couldn't be bothered to put forth a valiant effort, he needs to be dropped against South Korea, same for Viera, terrible.
Zidane couldn't give any impulses to the French game and Henry was controlled quite well by his Arsenal team mate Senderos. Finally the French can be happy not having lost the game.
I think that Switzerland deserved the draw and once more they proved to be a really strong squad! Barnetta is a class player!
Congratulations to Korea. But I felt that for the most part, it was a poorly played match by the Koreans, considering their man advantage and the opposition. Togo showed a bit of heart, staying in the game, but they had to overcome to much in their World Cup opener.
Korea needs to find some skills. The goals were nice, but little creativity and a lot of errant passes. They are not going far and I doubt they will advance from the group, despite the win today.
Re: World Cup - Group G
France's horrible performances continue. They haven't played convincingly since winning Euro 2000. How harsh it may seem, they just do not deserve to go the next round. I was a great fan of the French squad, but now I sincerely hope they bow out in the first round and are saved the miserable performances they are displaying lately.
The coach too is horrible: why did he not select Giuly? He's thousand times better than Wiltord and Ribery together. And why wasn't Trezeguet playing? A player who has been topscorer in the SerieA and this year scored 23 goals for the champion per definition has to play. The commentator was saying that Trezeguet's transfer value is higher than the Swiss squad together. The chances that France got, would have been buried by Trezeguet.
Re: World Cup - Group G
Horrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiibleeeeeeee performance ! **** ! Raymond ! He changed once time more the team !!!!!!! F***k Raymond
Re: World Cup - Group G
Poor sods missed the likes of Cisse who loves to run at defences. Their manager seems to be another Sven, totally clueless on team selections and how to play his men.
They should still qualify though.
Re: World Cup - Group G
I really feel that heat does take a toll for all teams and this is why most teams are just content to play well within themselves. When England brought this excuse, it was lauged away but Netherlands and France have also struggled.
Having said that, France should have played Saha up front with Henry. They lacked a target man and coach easily bought into Ribery hype. He should have brought him as sub where he was most effective in practice games. They will see better days though.
Re: World Cup - Group G
^actually saby, France have been playing too bad for too long time now. and honestly, I don't see them recovering any time soon. It will be best for the footballing world if they go out in the first round.
I think the conclusion has to be that France's surge to the top of football has been a temporary one and was led by only one man: ZIDANE. With him in the latter stages of his career, France have returned to the team they were before the Zizou-era: a so-so team, ranked among the likes of Uruaguay, Norway, Ireland, USA etc.
They don't belong the the top: never have actually, apart from the Zidane-era.
Compare it with Napoli in the SerieA: With Maradona in prime form they won everything; without him they are struggling in SerieC
Re: World Cup - Group G
ps: the last goal of France in a WC was scored by Petit in the '98 final!!!!

I agree. You can see this point proven during the French team's performance when Zinadine was injured during the last World Cup. They totally fell apart without him .... it was quite bad. I don't expect much from them as a team.
Re: World Cup - Group G
Piss poor performance from France. They were usless. Even Zindane was shouting at a few of his team mates, bless him, he looked so vexed.
I don't get why Viera and Henry couldn't play like they play for Arsenal.
Re: World Cup - Group G
^problem is that when these players where young, Zidane was the age they are now: and he was considered the leader: everyone HAD to listen to him, no matter what.
Now, these players are older and they think they are the leader on the pitch and everyone has to play in favor of them. There are too many egos running around on the pitch for France: and all of them think they can match zizou when he was 27/28 yrs of age (not realizing Zidane is in the category Maradona, Pele: so there won't be a new Zidane for the coming 50 yrs)
problem lies with players like Barthez, Vieira, Henry, Gallas, Wiltord: they have to be removed from the squad!
my line-up for the next match:
Coupet
Sagnol Thuram Silvestre Abidal
Dhorasoo Zidane Makalele Malouda
Saha Trezeguet
