World Cup - Group E

Re: World Cup - Group E

lol easy man, i was referring to 'this' match, they played horribly in the last one (even though i didnt see it) but i was told they lacked confidence and the right attitude, and unlike this game, they just gave up after the first goal...

this is the only match i was going to watch, time nahee haiga aj kal, alright guys! have fun in the rest of the world cup and I hope germany wins!

Re: World Cup - Group E

US holds on to a draw. But they still have not scored a single goal for themselves.

Re: World Cup - Group E

but not all 4 teams fully control their own destiny, while it is mathematically possible for any of the teams to qualify.

US has to beat ghana and hope italy spaks the czech in order to have a hope to proceed. Had US won today then they would have been in a much better shape.

but hey, thats the beauty of world cup..crazy things happen. Like the ghana match today, who could have predicted..

Re: World Cup - Group E

Ref was pathetic. Both Us red cards were poor decisions. Masteroni one was yellow at best and second red was not even a yellow, he actually one the ball. Yes it was a foul because it was frantic tackle did not deserve a card. Only good decision was De Rossi's red card. It was an elbow in the face; idiot!!

Re: World Cup - Group E

saby did ou keep a tally of all the fouls?

Re: World Cup - Group E

Italian team sux, I don’t think they deserve to move forward :snooty:

Re: World Cup - Group E

come on…everybody who watched that match knows there was something unusually wrong with the US team.

of course, it’s no excuse…but that was very obviously not a standard performance from the americans.

today was a good showing, but i do think the refs were too trigger happy with the penalty cards (apart from the red on De Rossi which was very legitimate).

Re: World Cup - Group E

the referee was EXCELLENT! He did not make any wrong decision!!!

Re: World Cup - Group E

red card for De Rossi was apparent

The first red card for US: it was tackle with both legs, and more importantly from behind. According to FIFA rules dating back from France '98 this is a straight red (the fact that other refs don't give them doesn't mean that it's not the official rule): so the ref was right

Second red for US: The tackle -perhaps intended for the ball- never came near the ball and solely hit the player's ankles: yellow card. Simple as that

Re: World Cup - Group E

a slightly late tackle is a late tackle as well: and that’s yellow according to FIFA football rules (perhaps not in American football  )

Re: World Cup - Group E

I had some idea about their jazbati pana but never thought that they will be such cry babies. Had US lost the game there would have been big time matam in the commentary box.

Re: World Cup - Group E

ok, after seeing today's matches, I still hope Italy and Czech Rep pregress.

Both had wake-up calls today and will surely improve their performance for the next matches. Ghana: deserve to go through as well, but I think they will choke when facing Brazil (assuming they qualify as second).
USA: sooner or later their lack of technical skills will show and they will bow out miserably. So it's better for them to leave the tournament in the first round without much international attention :D

Italy: It's known that in attack they lack flair. But I thought their defense stood solid, although I wonder why Panucci wasn't selected and Zaccardo was. Prehaps i'd play Zambrotta on the left and Grosso on the right. Good that De Rossi will be banned for 6/7 matches, so Gattuso can bring more balance in the side. Attacking-wise: they still got good strikers, who only need one chance per match. Instead of Iaquinta, I'd try Inzaghi as sub.

czech: they got totally surprised by Ghana, but they have a world-class keeper. In case of a penaly shoot-out against Brazil, Cech would win from Dida (same goes for Buffon btw, although he lost 3 yrs ago from Dida in the CL-final Juve-Milan)

Re: World Cup - Group E

Czech lack quality up front with both Baros and Koller injured. I hope too that they both Italy and Czech progress albiet making it difficult for themselves.

I dont think Italy doesnt have flair up front. They do; a lot more than czechs and other contenders.

But the last day of this group is gonna be real cracker with both matches going on simultaneously.

Re: World Cup - Group E

What a great few matches! Just shows how open the cup is :rotato: Prolly the most exciting game I’ve seen so far in the tournament.

Re: World Cup - Group E

referee sucked big time.

Re: World Cup - Group E

Re: World Cup - Group E

Italy Suckksss

Re: World Cup - Group E

Do not cease to believe.

How good was the Ghana midfield? They played the perfect game and did exactly what you have to do, and that's slow down Nedved and Rosicky. They stifled their movement and really took the air out of the game...sure both players, esp. Rosicky, looked dangerous at times but they didn't have the same impact as they did against the U.S. Great tactics and perfect execution.

The Czechs missed Baros and certainly Koller today as pointed out by saby, and Czech fans that thought they were going to win today aganist a strong, fit, and talented Ghana team are sure humbled now with the way Appiah, Muntari and Essien played in the midfield today, and how Gyan and Amoah formed a fine partnership again with the lack of quality finishing being their only glaring minus.

Man of the Match, Suly Muntari, and pack your bags, you are going to Man United now, :D even though that may be your last game in the Cup because of the stupid yello card rules from FIFA

Re: World Cup - Group E

I was impressed with the way the U.S. played and happy with the result considering the circumstances. That’s exactly the kind of game they needed to rebound from the Czech game and they need another like it to beat Ghana and possibly move on. it really is disappointing though because instead of playing a man down, the U.S. should have been playing a man up and have every opportunity to win the game.

Both reds against U.S. were bad calls. Giving a red card for the Pablo tackle was ridiculous. He came in a little late and committed the foul so it’s a yellow card, but I think that had been his first(or maybe second) foul all game and the tackle wasn’t really that hard or that late. a red card there was a complete overreaction and just a horrible decision. The 2nd yellow card on Pope was also a bad call. Pope slid in a got the ball and then the player. That’s a foul, but no booking.

The Ghana game will be tough. They are much better than many of us thought, especially media will give them credit for. Pope and Mastroeni’s absense will hurt us big time. U.S. only hope is for a win against them, and an Italia win. If the Czech Republic win, U.S. will need to make up 5 goals. If there is a tie, we’ll need to make up 4 on the Czechs, but then they’d still win due to better goal differential against U.S. So, US. would need to make up 5 on them too. So, U.S. only option are a win and an Italia win, a win by 5+ (not going to happen) and a draw, or a win by U.S. and a win by a Czechs (with the Czechs and USA scoring 5+ more than the combined score of Italia and Ghana, also not going to happen). This will be so nervewrecking… :mudhosh:

Re: World Cup - Group E

Ghana stuns Czech 2-0 :dhimpak:

All those Czechis :mocking:
