if he is a bad ref he is equally bad for both teams. the fouls committed were hard fouls, lets not make excuses for those plays. Even if the ref is trigger happy, if the players were not doing such fouls they would not be getting in trouble.

such "slightly late’ tackles from behind have ended many careers and thats why they are not taken lightly.

case can also be made that the italian redcard was just an elbow flying sideways as the players jumped up.

when a team uses fouls as a strategic approach, they stand a higher chance of getting in trouble. commentators may call them “professional fouls” but to me thats just unsportsmanlike.

good idea!! thats what i’m watching it on now…i’ve watched soccer on arabic tv..with arabic commentary..and never understood it..and it was better than watching it on ESPN :smack:

Hats off to USA though for still going for a goal. They could easily have decided to shut the door and try to hold on for a draw. But they are going for a win and thats awesome approach and performance.,
