Last time Mexico qualified first in their group against Italy and Croatia (Croatia was coming off a third place performance in '98, everyone thought they were gonna be big). That was definitly a harder group than they have this time, and I really think this Mexico team is a lot stronger. They have a solid defence, great goalkeeper, and I feel like their fitness level is a lot better than past years. I feel the only way they may not win the group might be from goal differential to Portugal.
I agree that Mexico and Portugal will go through but Iran could be the dark horse of this group and might just sneak through, even though on form it is difficult to see them beating the two front runners.
Iran is a good team but Mexico is better than them. Infact they were only beaten last week by France after 20-odd international matches unbeaten run. It should be a great contest between Iran and Mexico.
Portugal is a really dangerous team and should make it to at least quarter finals where they might meet England.
I think Portugal will top the group and mExico will ne 2nd one to qualify.
It will fun if Iran qualifies. Is there anyway Iran meeting USA after group stages and kick some ass. It will be fun. Oh.....Dreams... :D
Portugal are one of my hot outsiders to win the WC. They've got strength and quality players in every position - Carlvalho, Deco, C Ronaldo, Figo, Simao and Pauletta. And they're looking pretty good in the warm ups.
But Simao is the man to watch. The guy is just awesome.

I do think it will be portugal and mexico, but I dot see mexico going any further after that.
The problem I have with the Iranian team is that they have had all these opportunities to score, but haven’t cause there’s only one guy up in the box trying to score and the rest of them are holding back. There isn’t enough support.
