^I know, but it is interesting to see that in the tournament so far, usually if a player is on-side by the same margin or even clearer on-side than this, usually they give the advantage to the defending team and flag as off-side. So I wonder why this time (first time in the tournament) the benefit of the doubt is given to a striker?

moreover, look at where the linesman is (you can see his flag), from there he would have already seen Adriano, and from his own position the linesman cannot but conclude that the fact he sees Adriano, means he is off-side

Take away that goal and brazil still would have won 2-0 
This wasnt as controversial a call as some of the other ones e.g Aus vs. Italy, USA vs. Ghana, Portugal vs. Holland and few others that I cant recall.
The refreeing in this world has just been horrible.
