Working Out

So I have heard many different ways of working out. I just wanted to see what is the best work out method that will produce optimum results.

I heard that you need to do cardio for at least 20 minutes before your body starts to burn fat, after that you are supposed to do muscle training (sit ups, crunches, etc).

I have also heard that you should do muscle training such as lifting weights first and than do cardio.

Which method is better?

Re: Working Out

as you said that calories will be started burning after 20 mins of cardio SO
why not do weight training first, it will rise your heart rate hence your metabolism will be fast and then you start doing cardio after weight training and start burn calories from the 1st min.
start with weight training followed by cardio.

Re: Working Out

I dont get it... ^

Re: Working Out

yoga, pilates

treadmill and elliptical.

What? My question is which are u supposed to do force, cardio, or crunches.

Re: Working Out

Re: Working Out

:rotfl:

Re: Working Out

do weight training 1st then cardio...
if you do this way you will be burning fat (doing cardio) from the 1st min and in this way you wont need to wait for 20 mins coz your body will be much worked out already from weight training.

Re: Working Out

What I am currently doing is using the torso track. I do 3 sets with 30 reps. That only takes me 5-10 minutes. Should I do that first and than cardio (which is 30 minutes on the tredmill)?

Re: Working Out

torso track is not weight training. its not even full ab training. however its very very good exercise for your core strength. weight training is working out with physical weights or machines with weights.
if you dont have access to weights then add 3 sets of crunches (till failure) in your torso track and 2 sets of push ups (till failure) and then do 30 mins of treadmill.

Thanks this is very helpful advice.

I have a few questions. Why is the torso track not full ab training? (is it cuz it only works out your upper abs?)

What do you mean by core strenght?

Why push ups?

My target is to get slim all over which I am trying to achive by cardio, but my trouble spot is my tummy.

Re: Working Out

belly is always the "trouble spot" for every one. its coz its the nature of body to store most fat in that area.
in order to get slim a person has to burn more calories than its consumption. thats why doing just ab exercise wont necessarily get fat off from belly. you need to shred overall fat from the body. hence come the push-ups it will atleast hit your upper body (chest, tri's, shoulders) and hence boost up the caloric burning process. which will help to shed fat.
Torso track is as the word is mainly for torso exercise. Its the front area in the whole of the spine, the same goes for your core too. which is the front from beneath the chest area to the lower abs. Strength of core is very good. its keeps one off from getting injuries and its good for overall health...

Re: Working Out

Got it so torso track and push up before cardio. Do you think I should add crunches as well. Does the theory work similar to lifting weights?

Re: Working Out

i've found that if i do cardio first, i sweat a lot more during strength training. which i consider a good thing

Re: Working Out

For best results in the shortest amount of time.

Intervals for 2-3 minutes (between high intensity, low pace) for 22-24 minutes

paired up with strength training 2-3 x week

yes i wud recommend pushups then crunches then torso track and then cardio.

about your 2nd question. yes indeed "basic" theory is the same however your muscles aren't gonna fatigued enough which does happens in weight training, for that just put intensity in your work as someone above said, keep rest times shorter and remember you aren't lying on your sofa watching a movie you are working out so its not bad if you are out of breath through out the workout..keep that heart in the fat burning zone..... :)

Re: Working Out

pushups are the best

Thanks.

I am always out of breath when I work out, I have asthma. But I always break a sweat.

I have joined a gym in attempt to spice things up. I am thinking of maybe doing push ups, crunches, than tredmill, and than cool down and relax with a game of badminton.

Re: Working Out

how about that, i have asthma too. but since i've started working out my inhaler use have decreased from usual 6 inhales per day to 1 inhale per day.
few weeks ago i red an article that working out/exercising/jogging and eating clean really helps to boost lungs performance and makes them stronger. this article was directed towards asthma patients and recovering lung cancer patients and recovering chain smokers...
