Working out in Ramzaan

How many people will actually be excersing or working out in Ramzaan. Is it hard on some people, specially for someone who is running 2-3 miles 2 or 3 times a week or lifting heavy weights. Should be people completely stop exercising or should they mellow down a little?

well somehow relevant, but just went to msn-arabia (automatic redirect after signing off from hotmail), and the poll there said "how many times do u excercise in a week", and 53% almost said "NEVER" (including me)....

i think that percentage will rise higher in ramadhan....

I still exercise during Ramadan, it is harder just bcos i don't have as much energy...my problem is that i get dehydrated really quickly, even when not fasting...so, i try to exercise early in the fast or ideally after Aftari time...i think if u can keep doing it, then that's good...i know some athletes who still participate in their sports during this month, but not everyone can do that...i think naturally, most ppl probably have to reduce it a little, u know how much u can do...just shudn't push urself too far...

HEY LOOK ! I CAN RUN 2-3 MILES NON-STOP and yess i dont even need no gatorade or any drink during running AND AFTER TRACK I LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS REALY REALLY HEAVY .. NOT A SINGLE GUPAN ON GS CAN LIFT THEM !!!

I will only be doing maintenance exercise in the evenings after Iftar at home. No thai kick boxing or any cardio for me during the next month. :( I usually drink a lot of water while working out so I can't do it at all during Ramadan. That's why I will be doing light maintenance exercises only.

I asked this personal trainer(hez a muslim too) regarding the same issue and he told me that i should open fast with something light i.e. not have proper dinner and then wait for an hr or so and then work out and after work out take the proper meal… i hope this helps!!!

go walkin after taravees... and dont eat typical iftari stuff .. go straight for dinner...

I used to work-out for half an hour after coming home from Tarawih. So I'd cut down on my exercises, but would not completely stop them.

I will probably cut down on the weightlifting by 25%, and probably wouldn't run, but I will keep playing cricket which should cover the cardio section of my workout.

I’ll continue my regular routines. Ramzaan or his hindu brother Ramdaan will not deter me from my daily workout. Bas! :mad:

Ive been wondering this same issue recently. Last year i used to workout right before sehri, though some people say its not good to workout in the morning, no idea how solid an idea that is.

Thinking of doing workout after , or right before iftari this time.

dude i play a 40 over one day league match during rooza aight .. so nothing new really n besides who wana know wat u plan to do the first place ?:stuck_out_tongue:

Its a well known fact that should never eat immediatly after working out. So it pretty much rules out eating between Iftaar and dinner. Since the time span between iftaar and dinner is 2 hours.

In that case, roza shouldn’t be a problem.

Almost all people ive seen recommend a protein shake after a workout, more or less immediately.
