Re: Working Moms/SAHM/Wives/Financially Independent Women
In shafee maslak, women don't even have to cook or clean if they don't want to. If they do, it is a favor they do to their husbands. Thats why I married a hanafi.

I did but then there could be a lot of things where logic could be used in islamic rulings by scholars when it isn't. The point is that people quote quran this quran that but there is no ruling in there if you want to just go by quran and reject hadees.
But yeah that would take this thread into a religious tangent and psyah would be needed with his long worded religious lectures.
What is STAHM?
No thanks!
I meant SAHM= Stay at home mothers

Hwy theorist. Random unrelated question, COMPLETELY hypothetical question.
If I was living under the same roof as you, would u also not want me to share pics of your gulabkhan. Or does that only apply if I were female?

For the sake of equality I let her open her own doors and allow her to pay half of all costs..such beautiful symmetry please don't ruin it now.. ;)
Re: Working Moms/SAHM/Wives/Financially Independent Women
I don't work but we have joint account. if i start working, im not going to keep 'my money' separate. I'm not sure how that can even work in a marriage. if couples are going to keep their money separate, why get married?

It is a sign that you are not making the tasty aloo palak with roghni roti that you should be making right now.
Re: Working Moms/SAHM/Wives/Financially Independent Women

Re: Working Moms/SAHM/Wives/Financially Independent Women
My wife stays home and does not work, I work and and we have a joint checking/savings account. She buys stuff with the credit card I gave her. I also give her a certain amount of cash each month to do as she wishes, no questions asked. Stuff purchased on the credit card by either of us is talked about almost daily in the evening. We talk and get advice/consult on big purchases.
Mashallah going well! ![]()
Re: Working Moms/SAHM/Wives/Financially Independent Women
Well of course I brought it up. Why would I not? The idea of keeping our money to ourselves stems from Islam because we're actually allowed to do so.
Now...my question is...how many women actually do that?
my brother and bhabhi both work, but they have separate accounts. they have one joint a/c where a portion of my brother's income go and my bhabhi can use that a/c as she wills. all HH expenditure, kids expenses and fees, bhabhis expenses, vacations, trips etc are fully taken care of by the brother Mashallah. Bhabhi is entitled to use he money the way she likes which she mostly uses in charity work in UK Mashallah.
my sister also work but her earnings also go in her separate saving a/c and she uses it usually for house renovation etc.
my mother never worked and my father has her a/c opened where he puts in a portion of his income which she can use or save as she pleases. all HH expense, my mother's expense, my expense( even though i earn myself but he would still spend for me), one of bhabhi's entertainment expense is taken care of by him.

oh wow wow
Islam isn't only about women keeping money in their separate accounts, there are a lot of things to it as well or is it the only thing about islam that you like?

:Dis it not possible that you follow or try to follow other things in Islam as well along with keeping your own money in your separate account??
suppose if you are following 2 good things according to Islam and you are not yet following the other 3 things, then should you stop following the 2 things you are following as well? makes no sense :)

Hey, each to their own but Islam isn't a buffet where you just pick and choose.
What about respecting husband? oh wait, that;s the part we're going to ignore.
This whole my money is my money, and husband money is our money is probably the saddest thing I've heard in me life.
Re: Working Moms/SAHM/Wives/Financially Independent Women
My money is only my money and husbands money is also my money
