Working long hours

Would you be willing to be married to a woman who works?

Do any of your close female relatives work?

You have to answer both questions.

jao naheen deta :snooty:

Yes.

Re: Working long hours

yeah, i dont see any problems,

I have a cousin who got married in pakistan and his wife was a DR back in pakistan. When she came here in canada apparently the canadian government wants her to go back to skool all over again as they do not accept over sieze qualifications, so she did all her examinations and everything in the US and got a medical license, now she is working as a resident at a hospital in CHICAGO and my cousin was supportive enough to the point that he quit his job of 6 yrs and moved to US to support her and you know how life is for hospital staffs.

Re: Working long hours

Yes my close female relatives do work but not for long hours ... and i thikn it kinda depends on her field if i would be ok with it or not ... for example if shez an accountant and workin long hours then i wld have a problem cuz she can easily find a 9-5 job ... if shez a doctor working long hours hten its different cuz u don't really have much of a choice there ... i hope i got my point across

Re: Working long hours

Would you call up your accountant after 5? Or on the weekend? Just curious.

Re: Working long hours

don't really have one ... but i suppose it works by appointment rite ... so yeah just work on weekdays and if its something serious then wkds

Re: Working long hours

yes and yes (my sister, my sister in law are currently working ...my wife worked for around 2-3 years mostly volunteer ... khidmat-e-khalq)

Re: Working long hours

Both my sisters work. I don't care if my wife works.

Re: Working long hours

my husband thought he married a woman who wanted to work. boy was he proven wrong :nahi:

But yeah, i have to say…NONE of the women in my family (or in laws) have worked. not here, not in pakistan.

:rotfl:

:rotfl:

Did he want someone who would work or did he not mind either way?

Re: Working long hours

Well at the time I was a student...before marriage he said he didnt mind either way but now that im done with school he wants me to start working.
I dont blame him. I blame my I-wanna-be-a-princess-queen-itis. :(

MY wife was a working lady when she married me. Few years later when our first child was born, she wanted to be a full time mom and since a homemaker by choice.

My sister works in a hospital.

hey sara are you still in T-dot or did you went back to NYC ... and yeah this i wanna be princess queen itis diseease is pretty common these dyas

Re: Working long hours

begum is a fulltime teacher, and one who finished her masters while raising two kids and working fulltime, she is a rock star. Currently she is seriously evaluating going for a second masters in child psychology and moving in that field.

sister is a doc, mom is a retired teacher, phuppis include a doc, a scientist and a professor all retired now. Majority of girl cousins from my dad's side work and have a pretty good representation of teachers, doctors, lawyers, MBAs and CPAs, some took time off when kids were small, some have their own businesses. majority of girl cousins from mom's side are a polar opposite, they have degrees but dont work, but most of them are in Pakistan or middle east, versus dad's side which is mostly in US, Canada and UK. khalas and mumanis are in contrast with my phuppis and chachis as well, but then it may be a function of being in Pakistan and Middle east, never asked.

Re: Working long hours

X2 man MashAllah u have a very well educated family :)

Re: Working long hours

BTW, your title is different than your question. I would fully support my wife if her job demands her to work long hours.

During the earlier day of our marriage, we used to live 2 minutes from my job while her job, being in downtown, was 30-35 minutes commute. We used to leave home together but I used to come back at least an hour before she used to come back. During those days, I used to cook the dinner. After dinner she used to clean the kitchen

Re: Working long hours

That's pretty cool, TLK.

I don't think the majority of guys are open to that though.

The title was for my original topic: would you marry someone who has really long working hours - including possibly some overnights and weekends. But then I changed the topic, and forgot to change the subject. You guys can change it if you want.

Re: Working long hours

majority of the guys do not enter the kitchen cause wives dont let them. My wife is very possessive about her kitchen. If she puts the jar of raw masoor kee daal on the left side of lower shelf towards the back, believe me she does not want anyone to move it so she does not let me touch it. I can understand. I like the same things for my tools. Screwdrivers on the upper tray of tool box. Allen Keys on the lower.

Plus she is never satisfied the way I clean the kitchen. :D. So even if she lets me cook, she makes sure that I am doing it under her supervision ..

Its not that she is a freak. She is a very organized person and treat kitchen as her domain.
