Working ladies

Re: Working ladies

Why is a woman who is only driven by her accomplishments abnormal?

There are thousands of people on GS who log on and off everyday...each one of them different and no two identical in every aspect...what makes anyone think their aspirations/dreams/pursuits/goals would be the same?

The idea is...what works for you may not work for me. You might like pecans but I dont. You might like rainy weather but I dont. You might like shrimp but I dont. You might like married life but I dont. You might want to be pregnant but I dont. You and I are not the same people...therefore it is not necessary we like or want the same things out of life.

It doesnt make anyone selfish if they have the above thought process...it makes them different...different does not equal bad. People forget about the various backgrounds, upbringings and even personalities we possess. What we consider the norm isnt always right or really the norm for another. Someone may have had an abusive childhood and isnt ready to be a parent because they have their own demons to fight. Someone may not be able to have children. Someone may be ambitious and has set high goals for themselves. Are these people abnormal? No.

If someone chooses not to have a family, I find that to be more responsible then someone who just walks into the role without thinking whether or not they can handle it.

Yes, children are a blessing. I hope to have my own someday and if Allah swt gives me enough...I want to adopt too Inshallah. But if my cousin/sister/friend doesnt want them...its all good. They still get an invitation to my Mediterranean dinner night coming up. :)
