I am just wondering what is the criteria for selecting a commentator? Any good cricketer could be a commentator/expert in the commentary box?

The Commentator DOES NOT have to be an expert.
We have usually have a side kick sitting in the commentry box taking care of expert comments and everything
He should have the ability to narrate what he sees.. and make the listeners feel as if they are a part of it. A little bit of humor certainly helps. And above all he must not be biased.. and his comments should be based on merit.

lol don't hate on "inti" ... his voice is what makes my day.
but in all honesty, i kinda miss waqar younis's colour commentary. yes, i agree he had the most roller coaster accent (i.e. switches from pakistani to australian to english to german) but the things he said made you laugh.
i also wonder how intikhab alam got the job... perhaps afridi786 is right.

Seriously - who else would make a good ccommentator from Pakistan? We only seem to hear the boring Rameez Raja on international matches on Sky sports and I think there should be few more from Pakistan especially when they are playing.

Its very hard to combine the 2 skills. Most experts are ex-cricketers but are not so eloquent in choice of words for commenting.
Ramiz is there - yes he seems boring becuase he is the only decent commentator from Pakistan who is can be considered an expert as well. Don't get me wrong I would also love to have someone else besides Ramiz.
Following could be alternate choices:
Wasim
Waqar
Mushtaq Ahmed (I don't know if he has ever been given a chance)
Moin Khan
Rashid Lateef (can he speak english?)
Saeed Anwar (if Tableeghi Jamaat ever gives him permission) The guy has an engineering degree (sport basis) from NED
lets see who else...
