Women should not wear jeans-The legendary Indian singer Mr.Yesudas says..

I am confused as to what jeans will do to any society.

and it seems he has embarked on a controversy…

Legendary singer K J Yesudas has suggested that women should avoid wearing jeans, saying it goes against Indian culture. “Women should not cause trouble to others by wearing jeans… What should be covered should be covered,” Yesudas said at a function organised as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.
The 74-year-old singer said jeans went against Indian culture which valued simplicity and amiability as the greatest qualities of women.
Taking exception to the singer’s comment, activists from Kerala unit of the Congress women’s wing took out a protest march in the city. “This is a totally unacceptable view. This could be seen only as a transgression on the freedom of women,” Mahila Congress leader Bindu Krishna told PTI.
“Yesudas is a great singer and all Indians are proud of his contribution to music. It is unfortunate that this sort of an anti-woman comment has come from him,” she added.

Kerala: FIR filed against singer Yesudas for his remarks on women wearing jeans - IBNLive

Thiruvananthapuram: An FIR has been filed on Saturday against the music legend KJ Yesudas on his women wearing jeans remarks.
On Thursday sparking a controversy, Yesudas resented women wearing jeans, saying this went against Indian culture.
“Women should not cause trouble to others by wearing jeans. What should be covered should be covered,” Yesudas said at a function organised by a voluntary organisation in connection with the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.
The 74-year-old singer said this kind of dress went against Indian culture which valued simplicity and amiability as the greatest qualities of women.
Taking exception to the singer’s comment, Mahila Congress activists took out a protest march in the city.
“This is a totally unacceptable view. This could be seen only as a transgression on the freedom of women,” Mahila Congress leader Bindu Krishna said.

Re: Women should not wear jeans-The legendary Indian singer Mr.Yesudas says..

Only womens’ jeans.. Mens’ jeans are somehow ok and he doesn’t feel the need to tell them to wear dhoti or lungi instead

Jeans don’t cover any less than a saree and besides has he forgotten that in Kerala the culture used to be for women to walk around topless..

Re: Women should not wear jeans-The legendary Indian singer Mr.Yesudas says..

His comments have been taken out of context. His full statement read, “Women should not wear jeans. They would look much better in short skirts or cotton shorts.”

Re: Women should not wear jeans-The legendary Indian singer Mr.Yesudas says..

^ Why cotton shorts?

Re: Women should not wear jeans-The legendary Indian singer Mr.Yesudas says..
