There are many situations where if it happens...its unfortunate and the person had no control over the circumstances...
but there are other circumstances where if the victim was acting a bit more carefully things could have been avoided. thats NOT the same thing as saying she deserved it or she should take all the blame.
I agree with this. This is not to say that the rapist is any less guilty or that it's a valid reason to reduce his sentence. But I would also feel more sorry for someone who has it happen to them while taking all of the precautions than I would for someone who's knowingly putting themselves in a situation where it's more likely to happen to them, whom I would also partially put the blame on.
It's like if someone just leaves their wallet or purse out in the open in a public place and then while they are distracted for a moment, someone walks off with it. Even though the thief had no right to steal someone else's things, I would still partially blame the victim for being so careless.
