Why is it that when rescuing or evacuating, its always women and children first?

children and eldery are pretty obvious ... they are the most vulnerable so they need to go first. I am guessing women get to also go first because of the children.

well some would say that women and children are less able to care for themselves or would be traumatized more so lets get them out more, it also stems from the belief that men are stronger and more independant and what nots and can handle more, but more accurately it goes back to a timw when men were expected to fight, ad only those who were too ill or weak to fight would go to safe places with the women and kids.
At one point in time I had made a rather cruel but utilitaran inquiry, i.e. if you evacuate women and kids and the men die, then are you not creating a huge problem with a population that can not take care of itself (this is keeping in mind this is an age old practice and todays indpendent women are not factoring in this hypothetical discussion)
... it may just be a ploy by women to get rid of men :D

Thats what i mean, women these days are pretty independent and strong, if not stronger than men.
I think it should be children and elderly first and then women and men TOGETHER.

The children are some times young ... so who will go with the kid when they are being evacuated if not with a parent?

The kids are sent on their own in such cases.

Obviously. If I was there and I had a child, I want to be with the child than let them go on their own ... assuming I could go of course.
