I am reading your comments, but I find funny is tht the daughter was a part of it, this is just crazy, there was no way out, it was a sound proof cellar hidden behind storage of books. He bought things for them from outside their hometown, so he planned it well, she had a small kitchen so she made her own food that he supplied. It is being said, he didnt want her to go out and have a bf, so he locked her up! yes disgusting and crazy, who does that with their own child? I dont think the mother suspected anything, otherwise she would have done something at some stage!
She and the kids never saw sunlight in those year. The other 3 kids around the age of 1 were taken away from the old man and she was forced to write notes eachtime that she cannot take care of the kids and are giving them to the grandparents.
Yes there is something wrong with the austrian legal system, maybe, otherwise they never questioned where the kids came from or about their mother!!
Oh the thing about punishment, the buddah might only get 2 years prisionment as then he will reach 80 years after that they are too old for prision.

As i said earlier the only a mentaly impaired person could remain clueless of such a long ordeal under normal circumstances.
Only the investigation from mother and daughter can unveil the real story.

On one hand the father is extremely cruel to do such a henious crime for such a long time , but on the other hand he did not harm any other person (his other off-springs ) why such a cruelty to one child only ?
bearing 7 children is hell of task and taking care of their needs. The mother of these children was apparently mentally very stable and strong. This is a very strange and unlikely outcome from this bizarre situation
Providing supplies to and from basement requires lot of effort and dedication.

It is said, that Elisabeth was his favorite child, as she was the prettiest of all!
A tentant said the he heard strange noices in the night sometimes, but did not realize it came from down under! He saw him take food and other supplies in the cellar, the room was tabu for others!
I myself as a mother, cannot imagine what Elisabeth went through during child birth and the stage afterwards!!
