The kids were locked in the cellar too, there was a secret code to gain access to the cellar. One of the child was dead. The mother must've been dead and the man's daughter went missing when she was in her 20s (obviously the father had kidnapped her)

3 of the children were taken and raised by her father (the rapist) and her mother. He lied and told the state and his wife that the 3 children were found on their doorstep and a note from the missing daughter (who he had locked up downstairs) saying she couldn't take care of them so no one thought much of it back then.
The 2 other children, now in their late teens, were left in the cell with their mother and have never been outside. Can you imagine being locked up in 1 room from birth until 18 years of age and your only contact is your mother and 1 other brother in the same situation as you? Mentally they must be in such poor condition.
How the wife of the rapist didn't know her daughter was locked downstairs I don't understand. Her daughter had babies down there and you can't stop them from screaming sometimes, I don't get it.

1 correction, 3 children were left with the mother not 2, they are aged 18, 19, and 5 years old. None had ever seen daylight.

Will people believe anything these days? What of 7 sets of pregnancies, food and drink, placentas, cord cuttings, teenaged kids not discovering the cellar or those in the cellar not grab the grandfather/father ... 24 years of no plot by the victim to escape and so on.
Something about this story doesn't add up.
P.S. Birth registrations and schoolling etc ... it does not add up no one asked any questions ... duh

^Usually in such situations the perpetrator overwhelms the victims "psychologically". His wife must be have been involved in all this.

this is really sick very disturbing and all over the news!
this wife and the other kids with them didnt know as they were in the cellar.
those who have seen old austrian homes, would know that they are deep down and the walls thick so no noice could go outside, it was approved as a protection room (for nuclear war or something) so u can imagine the state of it ..
