Wo khayal tha koi dhanak-numa ya koi aks tha merey ru’baru
jo mujhey har taraf sey tu laga wo tu hi tha ya koi hu-bahu!

bayaaN meiN thi wo chaashni ke mehak raha tha harf harf
jesey khushbuoN ki zubaan meiN koi kar raha ho guftagu

nahi kuch khabar ke kis gharri terey raastoN ka sira miley
terey naqsh-e-pa ki talaash meiN lagi to hey meri justuju

bas deikhna hey kis tarhaN wo ji raha hey merey baghair
yuN to dil meiN hey wo aaj bhi jisey dhooNdta hooN ku-ba-ku

ye yaad tha ke duwa karooN par utthey rahey merey haath yuN
jesey khaahishoN ke hajoom meiN kaheeN kho gai teri aarzu
