I was resetting my wirless router and since then the Wireless led hasnt been on.
Do i need to run the cd to get the wireless led back on??

login to your router , thru a computer which is directly connected to the router.
open up internet explorer and enter your routers ip address.
most cases user name will be ' admin ' and password will be 'password'
check with your manufacturer to see what the default user name and password are.
once you are logged in, there should be an automatic setup wizard, if not, go to wireless > turn wireless on, make sure u set a wpa or wep security key, write it down or copy and paste into a txt document so you can later use it for your wireless devices.

You probably have to go into ur router's settings and re-assign a new key if ur connecting wireless.
OR
You might have to refresh/clone the Mac Address (whenever i reset my router, i have to do that).
Post your router make/model....after trying what GenSec suggested....

So you are saying its okay for the wireless router to not have its wireless led on once its resetted??
Its a netgear router, I had to reset it because I tried to setup static ip address and then couldnt get back into it.
Its a Netgear router WGRsomething.

Gensec how do you set up those keys??
I dont bother with keys, I just assign the Mac address of my Network cards in the router settings so only computers with that mac address can connect to it.

You should performan a hardware reset (either there is a reset button located on your router or you simply plug out the RJ cable and then the power cable)....Wait a min.....It should work then.

Resetting (not power cycling) the router brings all the settings to default. So if you had changed the network settings (default is usually 192.168.0.1 or 1.1) then you would be on a diff settings, so reset your computer's IP address as well, or you won't be able to ping it.

Yes i reset the router to bring it to default settings.
The computer works fine hardwired into dsl modem
The router seems to have lost its wireless meaning I get the power light, the internet light if i plug dsl into it but no wireless light

I hardwired the dsl router and my pc to the router to set up the wirless connection from scratch.
Worked like a charm
However the reason why all this happened ind the first place
The stupid wirless keeps on disconnecting Or the speed is Blah.
Im soon going to be upgrading to DSL3 but this wireless router is just going to sit there and refuse to deliver.
Do I set up port forwarding or port trigerring??
I have a 2wire dsl modem
And howwwwwwwww do you set up this key thing??
All my neighbours have keys and mine is the only one that sits in the list saying unsecured wireless network

adrasteia, try changing the wireless channel on your wireless router... i would assume, your neighbors also have it running on same channel which is why it maybe dropping or not connecting.
Of course, it would help if you can post some screenshots or allow access to your pc using one of the online tools and someone can fix the problem and thats where thori jaib dheeli karni parti hai

Well, when that someone does stuff, you can **watch **what they are doing, what they are clicking. You **ALLOW **that and then **disable **it. Khair, screen shots would do if you can follow the instructions afterwards.
