From my experience, almost all the airports have a hotspot, but you have to pay for it. My question is, how many of you actually pay for it? usually it’s like $14 for about half an hour which to me seems like a ridiculous price.
Re: Wireless at Airports
I have never paid for it. Most people have data plans that much cheaper anyways.
Most hotspots work with bigger carriers so if you have an account with them - you can just login using your account.
Re: Wireless at Airports
I hate paying for WiFi, but will do so if I have to - I love the airports that provide free WiFi ![]()
Re: Wireless at Airports
Sehyrsh - which ones are that? List them :)
Re: Wireless at Airports
two different countries, and i’m not signed up with either of the major US carriers. however i recently discovered that you can use internet with skype credits, so that was cool. though the rate is still high.
and to my knowledge so far only Dubai and 1 terminal of Toronto Pearson are free. rest you sign up with boingo or whatever ![]()
Re: Wireless at Airports

I think I read somewhere that US airports are going free wireless? I'm not sure. International airports are the ones that are a large pain in the arse. Schipol, Heathrow, Frankfurt, Istanbul, and I think Abu Dhabi too, all have to pay.
Re: Wireless at Airports
Cairo, Zurich, Madrid, Lisbon have to pay as well
but at Zurich - they will let you access the airport page for free to check the flight schedules, the map of airport and shops and other airport info.
Re: Wireless at Airports
same for the other airports. remember heathrow very well. it also linked to some off-site hotel you could stay at if your lay-over was long. but that's it.
Re: Wireless at Airports
they make me
when they do that…
Re: Wireless at Airports
i will never use "free" wi-fi for security concerns. if i use, then i will never check my emails or banks or something personal .. just random browsing ..
Re: Wireless at Airports
^^ when the lay-over is like 4 hours long, even random browsing’s awesome.
it hurts when there is a list of 10 spots, out of which, 4 are free, but they’re pay-per-use, 3 belong to airlines (damn you rich people and your first class tickets) 2 to random stores and 1 which says public, but it’s ad-hoc. ![]()

Toronto has already been mentioned - it's free. Philalphia was free as well. Delhi was free as well.
I paid to access WiFi at Charles de Gaulle and I don't remember trying to access WiFi in Rome or Dubai - so can't speak for either of those airports.
Re: Wireless at Airports
i always manage to find free internet browsing at coffee shops :D
Re: Wireless at Airports
Changi Airport ,Singapore provides free Wifi....
Re: Wireless at Airports
I found free Wifi at
London Heathrow/Gatwick.
Vienna
Amsterdam
Brussels
Paris (CDG, limited area)
Riga
Frankfurt
Copenhagen (Restricted, code freely available from Information)
Dubai (but I think its was some private one)
Munich (Limited area only).
Rome & Milan (Limited area only)
Zurich (Schengen Terminal)
Other airports it was either paid or not available, I found some open connections run by some Duty free shops I guess in several other airports.

Ok what where were these? I just flew in from Heathrow Terminal 5 this summer and there wasn't a free one available. It was just boingo etc hotspots.
Dubai's always been free, there are private ones but overall there is a free connection available
Re: Wireless at Airports
Qatar Air port provides it free . . and at Islamabad airport there are three Wateen workstations and you can use internet on those free of cost :@:
