From what I’ve read about it, with cloud etc I’m not liking it at all. Anyone have w8 installed, what’s your opinion on it?
Re: WIndows 8
umm, could you be more specific ? There are certainly pros-and-cons about Windows8. The biggest annoyance is definitely the startup menu (or a replacement for desktop not the tablet). Other than that, I don’t have much issues with windows 8.
BTW, what do you mean by “With cloud” … windows 8 doesn’t force you to stay on cloud. its your choice.
Re: WIndows 8
Its crap, that’s what it is. Stick with windows 7 or switch to MAC and/or Ubuntu/CentOS/Mint linux with Gnome3, wouldn’t use ubuntu unity nonsense though.
Re: WIndows 8
I just bought the surface pro 3..windows 8 isn’t so bad, no complaints thus far ![]()
Re: WIndows 8
I have it on two of my computers. I don’t have any complaints so far.
Re: WIndows 8
Nice way of telling… showoff ![]()
Re: WIndows 8
I’ll also add that the tiles work nicely with a touchscreen. The interface is ok…that’s the same things as the XBox 360 and XBox One (and Windows Phone) so I’ve gotten used to it there.
I can’t afford surface pro, so I just play with my kitchen tiles
Re: WIndows 8
may i know your reason of calling it crap ?
Re: WIndows 8
Might be experience. :joel:
Re: WIndows 8
and the review?
Re: WIndows 8
It’s meeting my needs quite nicely! I was wanting something light, mobile and quick, that I could take with me on client showings and house tours, with the ability to draw up and sign a contract on the spot, access MLS listings while out and about, and not have to waste paper by printing out listing sheets for my showing appointments, and this is hitting all of those points and then some. I connect to my iphone’s personal hotspot so for me, it’s the perfect mobile office. I love the fact that it’s touchscreen + typecover, and the split screen is awesome!
Re: WIndows 8
Well, biggest reason is that there is no start button/menu. Why the hell not? I hate the metro UI. What Microsoft should have done is to release different versions, like desktop version, mobile version (with Metro UI) so that it accommodates all the users (mobile and those with traditional desktops). Instead what they did was to strip the system down to fit in all form factors and markets, mobile, desktop, server. Even with server 2012, its same problem. Others, like myself, have gotten used to the start button since the days of windows 95 and NT 4.0 and to take that off JUST BECAUSE there is mobile revolution going on is just mind boggling and reckless strategy.
Then there is mindless integration with cloud… it will be more with future OSes. Take that sh!t off, because all the cloud is that its someone’s computer and I don’t want nothing to do with that.
Re: WIndows 8
It is good. I have surface from work and I like it and better than ipad. Latest version is Windows 8.1 and stable than Windows 8. MS will not going to market Windows 9 they will going to to launch Windows 10.
Re: WIndows 8
I wonder if in future nikah nama could be signed this way.
Think of a cloud-based nikah nama repository ![]()
Re: WIndows 8
Yeah I know it’s a choice. It’s still annoying though. I don’t like the fact they’ve combined tablet needs with PC needs.
Re: WIndows 8
Yeah I think I’ll install windows 7 and cover it up.
Re: WIndows 8
I was gonna get that but I don’t see the point in it considering I have a separate tablet anyway.
Re: WIndows 8
Exactly. I have a big issue with cloud and I hate the idea of knowing it’s just there. Isn’t windows 10 meant to have 7 different versions? Hopefully there’s just a desktop only version. I dunno if I should just wait for that.
Re: WIndows 8
I personally appreciate this thing. they are unifying the experiences for end users. so the transitions from a convertible laptop to the table is seamless.
They had to make a choice, either they could have made the old generation happy (which may not be their main user in 10-15 years) or attract the new crowd. From my perspective, it was a fair call. The only mess up they did was to release Windows RT and Windows PRO versions which was the biggest -ve thing for Windows 8, thankfully, in windows 10 there wouldn’t be any windows RT or PRO. Just one windows and one underlying architecture. Hence allowing you to run your desktop apps on tablet and vice-versa.
Okay, seriuosly, fill me in here. What cloud integration you guys are so annoyed about ? OneDrive ? Just uninstall it. Signing in Microsoft Office, don’t sign in. It would ask you just once. The only issue is your main user account, which i agree is kind a painful to log in with real password all the time but for me its not that big of issue to dislike compared to other things.
