Windows 7! Amazing!!

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

^:hehe: Did you just say Windows and Free in the same breath? Most likely they’ll allow you to upgrade and it’ll carry the same sales policy as before when people had to upgrade from XP to Vista.

I’m just assuming that. I don’t think it’ll be free, but then i just saw Bedtime Stories; anything’s possible.

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

^^ actually you are right about the past experience.. But Windows 7 seems to be a Fix-up of the messed up Windows Vista.... Vista users should get some discount if not for free.. so that they can come out of the misery lil easier.

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

^ Did Windows 95 & Windows ME users get any discounts when they upgraded to newer versions of windows OS? :chai:

i did…through torrents…

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

my thread is dyyying :(

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

:hehe: Not anymore.

For those who are still considering dual-boot for Win7 alongside their Vista, should consider getting this little utility called Vista Boot Pro. It basically rearranges for you the dual-boot option, allows you to edit the OS Menu, etc.

Btw, build 7057 is out. Which one are you guys running currently?

After hesitation, i went with Win7, haven’t used it much. the darn thing keeps giving me Monitor out of range thing after the windows logo comes on. Any way to get past that?

I’ve tried to adjust the resolution in vista, then reboot, and get the same thing again. :frowning:

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

Am running Win7 Build 7057 64 bit, only difference between the build 7000 (Beta 1) and this build is the new background for shutdown and login screen.

@ Teggy, its your video cards driver issue, try to boot into Safe Mod in Win 7 (press F8, when system starts) and update the card driver there. Changing resolution (or any other settings for that matter) in Vista wont affect Win 7 in any ways.

Vista Boot Pro is a good suggestion, but there is no need for it, if you are dual booting Vista and Win 7 as both of 'em uses the same boot manager (BCD). You can edit the settings for it from Vista or Win 7. Go to My Computer Properties -> Advanced Settings -> Startup and Recovery Settings. Select your default OS and Time. If you want to change the name of the OS, press edit, change and save. Done.

Vista boot pro is only required if your dual/triple booting with Windows XP, as XP uses an old boot manager.

P.S: i dont see Win 7 as a major change from Vista, its a tweaked version of Vista. Vista was a big change from XP.

True, I didnt see any major change in 7 either. Looks feels and works pretty much the same as Vista. BTW those who are hating vista probably never gave it a chance.

The video driver update was the first thing i did when it booted for the first time. my 8600 GT is updated to 181.25 driver from nvidia.

The problem still persists. Goes upto win7 logo, just when it's ready to take my login information (password, etc), i get the monitor out of range n a black screen ofcourse.

The weird thing is, when i attach a different monitor to it, it goes right through w/out any problems at all.

Re: Windows 7! Amazing!!

Okay I will be installing a new PC in the coming days, so will give it a try. Usually im not such a fan of beta OS.
