Wimbeldon - 2005

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

McEnroe is such a bitch...If it is not American, it's not great. He should be more generous when it comes to praising players from other nations. kameena bunda kameena hi hota hai, no matter how great of a player he has been in the past.

Like I said, Andy doesn't have the winners to outclass Federer. His 19 winners against Federer's 49 were just not good enough. No excuses.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

I think you should stay off tennis…Anyways Roddick was no match to the greats of Federer…Poor guy was hopping like a hapless frog all over the court…

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

I think its more of a mental thing with Roddic when competing against Federer. He has improved his over all game but he has some kind of mental block against Federer. Having said that, I always liked Federer better than Roddick because he is a complete player and I think he will beat Sampras’ record of 14 grand slams the way he is going. Roddick is second best player in the world but Federer is a class apart.

:k:

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

I remember Sampras-Federer wimbledon quarter-final some four years back. Federer was being hailed as new sampras and the match between them (which Federer won in four sets) was like watching twr carbon copy players competing against each other. Since then Federer has added a lot to his game and now he is winning titles day in and day out. He is unbeaten on grass since last 36 matches. Incredible.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

Surely, you must have watched Fred Perry? Where do you rate him

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

Borg was a great player - however imho, he would not have been able to beat Federer or Sampras at their best.

Federer v Sampras at their peak would be too close to call.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

Will you change your opinion if Roger(36) breaks consecutive wins record of Borg(41) at Wimbeldon?

saby, it isn’t a mental thing. Roger is just better than Roddick. And I am still his fan because he cracks up joke even at the losing end.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

^ I know Federer IS better than Roddick. I never said he isnt but he never seems to have a bad day against Roddick. I am quite sure that they will compete in quite a few finals in years to come.

Regarrding rivalries; I cannot get over Sampras-Agassi classics. Even at the older ages they seemed to raise their games against each other. Their second last match (In US open 2002) was decided in four tie breaks and what a classic it was. :(

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

^ Nothing beats the 1980 final between Borg v McEnroe. They showed it again this year during one of the rain breaks. Awesome match.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

did anyone think venus's celebration was a bit overboard. I don't have any problem with her jumping up and down immediately after the match, but at the ceremony she kept jumping up and down like a monkey even when davenport was collecting her trophy. Once a junglee, always a junglee.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

^ Atlanta, a poor comment.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

*No point in denying the facts, Ehsan bhai. *

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

my comments might be a bit crude but fact is fact. Like I said before, EVERYONE said that williams sisters weren’t serious about tennis anymore so I can understand when immediately after the match she jumped up and down. She hasn’t won a major tourney in a long time so the excitement at that moment was totally justified. But she showed an extreme lack of taste and complete disregard for her opponent when she continued on with her ugly celebration well into the presentation ceremony. Environment has a lot to do with how people react to certain situations, growing up in south central LA will make a person a bit on the junglee side. But she isn’t in compton anymore, it’s the all england club. Show some respect for the host but most importantly your opponent.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

I saw this as well. It was like watching slow motion replay.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

Who’s “EVERYONE” you are talking about? Who told you that Williams Sisters don’t care about Tennis anymore?

..and what kind of disrespect are you talking about? If Lindsay doesn’t feel that way, why would you?

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

do you listen to talk shows like around the horn, pardon the interruption etc etc etc. They consistently talked about how these two girls were more interested in fashion and movies and tennis is in the back burner. I didn’t think it was true but I am sure they were peeved at those comments.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

^ You are right. It was all over sports articles that how tennis slowlly went down in thier priority list over the years.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

:rotfl: What is this Atlanta bhai? PTI and ATH? :rotfl: Please let’s just stop here.

I am sure you have never heard from BSPN crew when Williams sisters lost their sister in day light in the cruelest way possible.

Re: Wimbeldon - 2005

you asked me who talked about their interest or lack thereof in tennis and I gave you some examples. It isn’t just limited to those. Journalists have also written articles about their ventures outside of tennis. No need to laugh at something that YOU asked for me to provide.

And I don’t know the full story about their sister. Something about getting shot or something, eh? Feel sorry for her but that’s what happens in the hood. I don’t understand how that is related to what we are talking about.
