An SUV (or FUV, as l think of them…) is basically a pickup truck engine and body, except, the whole bed (the back portion of a truck) is enclosed and has seats in it. It’s a truck that wants to be a van.

A minivan is a van with seats in it. It is a van that wants to be a station wagon.

Right or wrong, I like the way you described that.
