It seems like they are getting ready to do something.
US politicians continued with the condemnation of Pakistan today, with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R – SC) saying that that was broad bipartisan support in Congress for a military attack on Pakistan and that “all options are on the table” against the nation.
The most direct threat yet, it prompted a quick response from the Pakistani government, with Prime Minister Gilani recalling his Foreign Minister from a visit to the United States and ordering an emergency “all-parties” conference to discuss the prospect of a US invasion.
Gilani insisted it was important for the coalition government to establish political consensus with the opposition about handling the US threats, and called a number of opposition leaders. A unity statement is expected to be released soon.
The US has accused the Pakistani government of funding the Haqqani network as well as ordering them to attack the US embassy in Kabul. Pakistan has denied the allegation.
HA! They can't control Afghanistan. They are gonna attack Pakistan. Not gonna happen. Anything above a tactical strike is something they can not sustain.
Do you guys know how many billions of dollars you need for a military assault? The cost of positioning air assets and troops? Secondly we aren't Iraq or Afghanistan. They can't think of any form of an incursion. The cost would be too high militarily and in body count. Lastly they do not have enough planes on the ground to conduct an air strike a la Libya or Iraq.
1) Limited Air Strikes plus commando raids
2) Diplomatic pressure
3) Economic pressure & sanctions.
The real question would be, how Pakistan will react and what if the supply line blocked for good or what if Pakistan asked for some good money in return of opening the supply line???
I don't know if they will attack now or not.. the US elections are coming and the current government needs a drama before that. Yes there is a likelihood..
If God forbid another major terrorist attack happens now, with the current euphoria being created against Pakistan.. there will be so much public pressure on the current US government that they will have to attack Pakistan. I don't think it will be a matter of choice anymore for the current US leadership.
I really don't understand people who think there is no possibility. There is a very strong possibility of US attacking Pakistan. Our ghairat brigade lives in illusions regarding the military capabilities of Pakistan. Also we have to understand that there is a global consensus against terrorism, and there is no doubt that Pakistan is the major home for all the terrorist related groups in the world, with or without the official backing of our establishment.
The very serious question for Pakistan is that is it in our national interest to be against the whole world opinion. People who think any other nation in the world will come to stand with us in any situation like war live in an illusion. Do we really have to follow the ghairat brigade in our country and suffer a huge economic and collateral damage. We need to act really with caution and sense must prevail at this moment. Our priority should be the economic well-being of the country than protecting or refusing to act against any sort of terrorist outfits of what-so-ever type...

Strictly speaking, Pakistan cannot protect US forces, the Army of US have to protect itself..

We just have to clean our house. We can not go on protecting Masood Azhar/Hafiz Saeed sort.. or any sort of militant groups who-so-ever. It's just against the current world opinion. I am not saying that we should protect US army.. We should be intelligent enough to protect ourselves.. !!!

I hope it was that easy to wipe out Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed, or it was just matter of killing these two to get rid of them and ideology for good... these people and their ideologies will go down with the economic progress and development which Pakistan is missing badly...
The military offensive against our own people is what we shouldn't be doing at this stage, we have seen the reaction in the form of TTP...
and on top of everything, these kind of groups are killed by intelligence operation only, invading against them, killing them in masses will further increase their support.. remember we are talking about Pakistan here.... where the people are hell bound for Jihad against any non-muslim entity.... and then operation against Haqani or hafiz saeed on the ORDERS of west will be disaster...
last not least, the house cleaning can not be done if there is sand storm going on.. the cleaning will not be effective.... same applies on the cleaning of these outfits...
And to everyone, let the October 1st pass, everything gets back to normal... i think it is budget cuts what is giving the nightmares to the kinds of mullens and representatives of other defense equipment makers...
I am agreed with Yazdi point of views that we must concenterate ourself to built the strong Pakistan and its neccessary to cut off the hard extermists and jehadies links, and as for as a possibile us/allied attack I dont think so that if USA are in a position to start another adventure, India also think 100000 times to become a partner with USA due to her well going economical grownup its make her put back years to get back on track and not least Pakistan necular capability with range of missiles and strong army, over all China could play a dramatic role in all this possible invasion/attack on pakistan. IF ISI are playing with fires I am sure they thinks a lot about outcome of this fire game they must have something in which they are little confident. May Allah save Pakistan from any kind of disaster Ameen.
There is no way that there will be any attack of any sort. The US needs even just limited support from Pakistan too much to do anything to endanger that.
I agree with all of CM's points plus as Hareem said that China is supporting Pakistan .......Pakistan is not as easy as Iraq or Afghanistan and they know that pretty well too !
US are already under a humongous amount of debt and still recovering from their war losses in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Plus it’s quite possible that before things get too ugly our leaders might end up bowing their heads to the US demands sooner or later. That’s what they always do
