qayaamat jab aa jaayegii to yeh dunyaa Khatm ho jaayegii...aapko is qadar jaldii kiuN hai? vaise, jab insaan hii nahiiN rahegaa to phir fossil fuel kaa JIN iste'maal karenge? :D
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
so far humans have a somewhat recorded history of "ruling" the earth for about 4000-5000 years. not even a blink in the eye of time as far as life goes on earth. 100,000 years - some form of humans might make it to live on the conditions that'll prevail on planet earth at that time. if that earth is different significantly from current day earth, we might not make it.
100,000 is nothing when it comes to buried dead organisms to turn into fossil fuel. It requires few hundred million years. That is why we are still finding the bones of dinosaurs from 65 million years ago. They haven’t turned into fuel yet.
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
^These are two separate things that I asked about. Being fossil fuel and for how long can humans last. I think humans may not last 100,000 years.

I think 4 to 5 thousand is too short. May be 20,000 years.
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
i guess depends on what you call "ruling". widespread agriculture, writing, nation states etc isn't much older than 5000 years, maybe 10,000 years max by current estimates at least..
also, fossil fuels means you need a ton of dead organisms buried together absent from oxygen etc etc.. easy for microscopic marine critters and giant ferns and such, but not likely for animals/humans that run around.
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
^Hmm.... how about soil replenishment?
5000 is nothing. 5000 years ago, we were already technologically advanced enough to build great pyramids. The oldest cave painting that we have discovered is more than 40,000 years old. If humans could survive 40000 years with almost no valuable medical knowledge and less than 50 years of average life span, then I like to think that with the current knowledge, we can easily hit another100,000, naturally that is. If a disaster of cosmological scale happens, then we could all vanish as early as next year
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
there is a difference between living and "ruling". humans have been around for at least 100,000 years, but we were pretty much living a hunter-gatherer life even well into cave paintings etc. heck, if you live in a cave, you arent really ruling anything in my opinion. :P
We are just talking about the range of existence of human specie. How long is it as cave people and how long as rulers is not the point I think. I mean who to say that the last 500 years of our existence could not be in caves again. One global nuclear war can send us back to caves in no times.
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
at least we'll make better paintings this time <3
You need to see the graffiti inside the restrooms of I-90 rest areas to learn how anatomically incorrect our depiction of human body is. We haven't learned anything in 40k years
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
just coz they fall short of your expectations doesn't mean those diagrams arent huge success stories for some peeps, pal. :\
Ouch
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
So bones are not fossilized in several million years. How about rest of our body. It decays. Into some organic matter? Which turns to fuel?
Cut and paste
When buried six feet down, without a coffin, in ordinary soil, an unembalmed adult normally takes eight to twelve years to decompose to a skeleton. However if placed in a coffin the body can take many years longer, depending on type of wood used. For example a solid oak coffin will hughly slow down the process.*
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
So the decomposition products (not skeleton) eventually become fossil fuel?
Re: Will humans be fossil fuel of future?
actually fossil fuels may not be needed when fuels from Algea and other bio matter becomes available on large scale soon:

How long will this last?
Can human species last another 100,000 years on earth?
So to answer your question:
Yes Humans will make fuels of the future and not be fuels themselves!
