Re: WILCO

Updates on this episode;

Humayun Saeed's (Maj Saarim) brother (Imran Abbas) is an angry guy who has a thing against the Army; turns out their dad, also an Army officer, was martyred on the day he was graduating. The story hasn't been revealed yet as to how.

Maj Saarim is back in his unit and in operational areas where they are busy with relief works in flooded terrain. Adnan Siddiqi, Humayun's friend, also a Major, a sapper from the Engineering Corps is beyond some point acrrying rescue with troops and the signals & logistics have been cut. Problem is that the area is very close to the enemy; eastern thats is. Maj Saarim's coy is deployed and they move fwd to establish contact with the troops, but on reaching the point he orders his officers and men to return and himself drops into the river and starts swimming up the eastern bank. Suddenly there's a cry for an MG bunker manned by a sardar ji, humayun gets alerted and then follows a burst of MG fire...rest is for your imagination...

Meanwhile the village scene is a bit stretched and for me boring as there's no uniform there so far...the girl who's pregnant got bit by a scorpion.

Raju uncle, I again missed the part on your intro; I'm not sure about your and Leyla aunty's role, I do know you are her father but can you refresh about your connection with Saarim and family? Thanks!

The title song by Rahat Fateh is starting to make a mark, very interesting and patriotic as well as very relevantly composed for a military production.

Re: WILCO

P.S. Something I noted. Also which Raju uncle you could perhaps share. When Seemi Raheel is narrating the story of Saarim and Asim's dad's shahadat to their neighbour, in the background they show an old B&W younger days picture of an officer apparently portrayed as the martyred dad. I think that picture was an enlargement of an old younger days photograph of a very famous officer :D I could be mistaken but it looked a lot like one of that particular officer's Captain days photograph from the 60s/70s.

Re: WILCO

Actually....Capt. Lubna (as Aiman) comes from he Medical Corps of the Army. She is a real Army Captain.....and plays my grand-daughter. WE are just the neighbors to Saarim's family. The main reason why myself, Leyla and Lubna are there...is to portray the retired life of a civilian who has worked his guts out for a private firm and upon his retirement his company ignores him...while the ARMY does not....or the GOVT does not... and on a personal note I strongly believe in that...because I know how those who proceed on LPR in Banks etc or big Corporate bodies--are treated !!! Sad but TRUE!!!!

Nevertheless....ours is not all that important a segment in WILCO except AIMAN's which will take a very interesting turn in coming episodes...and if I tell ou now...you will loose the excitement.

I did this role on strong plea of Humayun...because I was there in Islamabad...as Coordinator for ISPR & HSP for the serial plus Ahson Talish also got glued that I must do it......hence for the heck of it...only for Humayun ( I call him Mayun)...I did that.

Regarding that pic at the background...I really cant say anything but I'll ask Ahson and revert soon..........

HOW IS HE SERIAL COMING UP????? Do give me your fairest comments....?

Khush rahein.......

Raju Uncle

Re: WILCO

Thanks Raju uncle!

I see, so far Capt Lubna is a civilian in the story and is playing your nawasi. I must say she is acting brilliantly.
The Drama is now getting very interesting, I'm a bit bored when it comes to the village scenes, but the portions with the Army life are a treat. The production I must say is very good, the acting, portrayal of Army life is improving every episode.
Few months ago you had mentioned to me there was to be a launch show in Khi which was then delayed. Is it done or in the pipeline?
Also, I was wondering, did Shoaib Mansoor play any part in the production/direction process?

Re: WILCO

Thank you Haris....your views duly conveyed to; Ahson Talish, Humayun and Capt. Lubna. They all extend their gratitude to you and all on this thread/forum.

NO...Shoaibi has nothing to do with this serial. If you would see the first submission I made on WILCO you'll get the background as to HOW exactly it all started some three years ago...on WILCO. I am proud to say or mention here--that WILCO is my baby as I was the main spearhead in floating the idea to ISPR through my school mate (two years senior to me) Lieut.General Shahid Aziz Khan, who was, then, Chief of General Staff at the GHQ...and later became Corp.Commander Lahore followed by his posting as Chairman-NAB upon retirement from the Army. His younger brother RASHID AZIZ KHAN was my class fellow at the Cantt. Public School-Karachi during 1964 through 1966....and I lost him in 1971 War when he received shahaadat right after two days of ceasefire when he had gone to the danger zone to save his batman and received a bust on his face.

I can never forget RASHID... he was my great friend and a very jovial person indeed...ALLAH uski maghfiratt kare (A'meen).

INDEED...it did take courage to record WILCO at places like Kargil, Leepa Valley, Tawi, Head Maralla-Bahwalpur and other Cantonments...and thanks to the Pak-Army which provided all out support besides two colonels, two majors and a captain to act also.

Khush Rahein......

Re: WILCO

Those are rare gems, very hard to find. May his soul rest in peace.

Re: WILCO

Yup she is shown a civilian but I think she will become an army doc. as is shown in the ad.
Although they say that she has completed her MBBS,but in a scene which I think was in 2nd epi she was shown praying (when Maj. Sarim was going back to his job) on her side were present Pharmacology books which is a subject in 3rd year.
I don't think that a doc would want to read Pharma after graduation unless he/she has to do an MPhil or Phd.:D

Re: WILCO

Holy Ravioli.......shivver me timbers! I knew it and I knew it that the viewers have eagle eyes and watch such backdrops so mi-nutely!

Well...this re-affirms our faith in our viewers!

I wont tell you whats coming ahead on *AIMAN...?*

Khush Rahein.....

Re: WILCO

good judgement :biggthumb

Re: WILCO

:D yeah!
And I'm guessing you're a doc too :)

Re: WILCO

:D Raju uncle, you mean that we guessed she'd join Army Medical Corps in future episodes or that the books shown depicted her 3rd year?
Also did you discuss about that b&w officers photograph framed in the background last episode at Saarim's mothers home?
On a second note, I think Mrs Seemi Raheel is also a military wife right? So is Layla aunty.

Re: WILCO

YES...Haris, both Seemi & Leyla's spouses are from the Army.

Yes..again...you guessed it right !

Now if you all come to know about the excitement in cards in WILCO...it will spoil the fun of watching....will it not?

AAG-VJ..Qura'tul Ain (Annie) has also played an interesting role as Imran's wife... and these days her appearance in MOBILINK's JAZZ advertisement as a 'princess' has beaten all records on adverts..hands down!
