WiFi

okay so we just got WiFi installed at our house and now the wireless internet on my geezer labtop wont work. Apparently I need to install some sort of driver from the internet? What is this and how do I do it. btw I already have built in wireless on the labtop

Re: WiFi

Re: WiFi

haan yaar to driver ko instaal kar lo

Re: WiFi

how?? lol.

Re: WiFi

How do you know you need a driver? If you say you have a WiFi enabled laptop. The reason i ask that is because, assuming your laptop came with it, it would already have the driver installed for it.

All you should have to do is:

Double click on the wifi antenna that shows up in the quicklaunch bar at the bottom right hand corner around your volume control, etc. Once you have that open, you'll see your Wireless network listed there in the list of detected Wireless networks in the area, just double-click yours and you're connected.

Now, if you're certain that you definately need the driver for your wifi and your computer came with a built-in wifi. Then you can go to the manufacturer's website and under Support, you'lll find all drivers for your Laptop.

I hope it helps...

Re: WiFi

Maybe the driver got lost in the lab :)

Re: WiFi

WiFi is a subset of wireless technology. But when most people talk of wireless at home it means wifi. There are other types of wireless, e.g. bluetooth, wimax etc, which are not used heavily in homes for using the internet.

What type of wifi technology got implemented in your home? Tell us the model number of your laptop and someone here can guide you a lot better.

Re: WiFi

Just post laptop make and model or go to website of laptop company and check for drivers section there.

Re: WiFi

Re: WiFi

Re: WiFi

On most IBMs you have to install the program for the wireless to work.

forgot the name of the program.

Is that what you are talking bout??

Re: WiFi

The site is probably asking for the exact model number. You would find it on the bottom of the laptop, down to the last letter.

This should be it. CLICK HERE

or you can go HERE to select yours specifically.

All drivers are available HERE

Re: WiFi

IBM comes with IBM Access utility (under Start, Programs) which configures most of the built in devices. Use that maybe it is not configured on first place.
