According to Pakistani law, if a man marries the second time without the wife’s permission, he can go to jail for 6 months. I have seen a wife threaten her husband with thus after he was not treating both his wives with justice and he became a bit nicer to the first wife.

Think that is what this fatwa is about. They are saying, the requirement of getting wife’s permission is ‘un-islamic’. This is what muftis do: Muft mein khana, fatway dena.
