a lady i know is in trouble … husband beat her up , and now packed bags and left for god knows where …

Call the cops, report it. They'll take care of the rest. Does she have any marks on her body, tell her to take pics - dated pics.

Of course. West is biased - they will believe women without proof. Seriously, right away, there will be a restraining order - he'll have to stay far away from her, etc. etc.

I am seriously fearing her safety now .. she is in a country on her own .. and that ass** hs been very harsh on her in the past as well ....

my roomate was a cop, If police go to her house. Sense tension there they are going to talk to hubby alone and tell him to stop. Like in there own way

What about false allegations of abuse? Wife called police and lied about both domestic and child abuse in order to divorce husband and maintain child custody (so that she could get alimony). Husband was calmly eating dinner when police showed up. Police asked 8-year old son, kid calmly said no, there was no beating. Police asked where are the marks? SHe said, "no, he did it yesterday, so the marks are gone" Husband was taken away to spend the night in jail, then released on bail. was told to stay out of 100 feet of the wife and kids. When he went home to collect his things, wife called the station, asked "Why did you release him? He is a threat", they said that he paid the bail. He was staying with a relative, so wife called relative and said, "where is the bail money, give me it". She thought "bail" meant alimony and was in such glee that she got the money so fast. Idiot. This happened a week ago. Sad sad story. Stupid illiterate woman, ruining a guy's life. The only reason he didn't divorce her years ago was because he didn't want to lose his kids. Before she called the police, she told her husband that she was inviting guests over so bring the groceries. SHe said this so he would bring a lot of food and fill the fridge, so that after she did the deed of calling the police with lies, she would not have to go grocery shopping. This is in Canada. I dunno, i take everything with a grain of salt now. Your person really may be abused, but... who really knows?

Dude snazzy, I know of another lady who did something very very similar. She was Pakistani as well. I know of this girl as well who did this to her father - when things calmed down, he came home - they started living okay together. He showed his daughter a lot of love and managed to convince her to come to Pakistan. As soon as they were cleared from customs in Lahore, he took off his shoe and beat the living hell out of his daughter at the airport and said, "Now kar lo jo karna hai - bula lo polic ko ab".

Here are a list.You can google some more. A police officer can give her numbers of women shelters.Since they are confidential, she has to ask the officer.
Oh Also she would need to file for a restraining order first as that gives her proof and also would help her immensely in the long run(that is if she has kids and they decide to divorce and the custody battle)

oh yes, i know one girl who tried to do this to her father, but just as an empty threat. She wrote a letter saying he beats her, and then threw it in his garbage so that he could find it. He started crying when he saw it and asked her "when have I ever done anything like this to you??" his wife hated him and got their daughter to hate him too. The only reason he never divorced her was because of that daughter.
But your story totally wins. that girl had it coming. I hate it when people lie and make themselves look like innocent victims, especially with people who gave them so much.
