^ I've never known anyone whos been raped or murdered, thankfully none of my freinds have either, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist....just ecause YOU have never seen it (and its entirely possible that you haven't come across ppl whove been abused so commonly), doesnt mean u can turn a blind eye to it and say oh it never happens among Muslims...true Shariah has guidelines, but how many ppl already follow it to begin with? Such ppl only follow it when it suits them, not when it involves keeping someone's dignity intact...
THere was this comedian on a late niht comedy show, MoniQue, she said "Yes I am a victim fo domestic violence." And a minute after she said [paraphrasing] "but yall gotta admitladies sometimes we deserve it, I was dating the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man in the world, and I got so mad and to piss him off I deliberately started calling his momma B BB B B B B B B(the b-word over and over and over) and he just got fed up and slapped me..so ladies we gotta watch ourselves too"....
i agree with sis. sara .....
beating is a very very last resort...very very exceptional conditions......and still under certain condition applied...as given before by someone....
and these things most happened in our villages environment having lack of education.....
have we heard ever our prophet(pbuh) doing so...never ever....he once asked aysha while she was drinking water froma bowl of wood that where she has put her lips...when aysha indicated that place..prophet(buh) himself put his lips at the same place in the bowl and drank the rest of water......
he used to kiss her even when he was fasting......he used to kiss her in her fore-heads and also other wifes...he used to take away the tears of safia(ra) etc.......although sometimes wifes gave some torture mental to prophet(pbuh)so he left them for a month but never hit them in whole of life.....
so its our sunnah of prophet(pbuh)......women are very tender...delicate creatres of Allah almighty....their hearts are very delicate....so in very very exceptional cases...to beat a wife is big big NO....as our propet(pbuh) did....
i again say..in exteme extreme case...not when the aaloo gosht get a pinch of salt more...or the husband shirt is lost... this is "jahalat" at all.....
Agree that that is right or agree that that is how society views it?...
Cos my perspective is that hitting your partner is equally unacceptable for both genders...
i will again say that hitting is extreme exreme cases...otherwise..big big no....its same when something is allowed but usually it is done in very very extreme cases....like talaq...etc...and that the marriage with jewish girl is even allowed but usually scholars do not like it....but if a man have any situation that he has no girl to marry...and fear of falling into adultery...in a society...then allahs gives permission to marry a jewish girl...so point is this happens in very very unusual cases......
but not to speak about what happens in our villages....men beat women like beasts...again the "jahalat".....
