PC may be a better buy to begin with but to maintain a PC is expensive than to maintain a Mac/Apple product.
Plus dont forget that Apple products have amazing resale value. You just cannot beat that factor. I sold/bought several Ipods/Iphones/Ipads in last couple of years and when ever I sold my apple product, I got within 75% percent of what I paid for it. I recently sold my original 2007 iphone for 100 bucks. Try doing that with any other phone that is 5 years old.

I have nothing against Apple and I know that they produce my streamlined products than Microsoft . Its just that Apple is little expensive . Otherwise if you ask me , I like Ubuntu more than PC and Mac .

Yeh, maybe like 10+ years ago.
My XP machine was very stable, it would be on for weeks at a time until I needed a restart.
And Windows 7 hasn’t had any problems. It’s also pretty resilient against viruses without antivirus software as long as you keep the admin account separate from the user accounts.
Plus as a scientist, mac’s are not useful.
And imo they get do get dated just as quickly. My supervisor changes his every year and our IT guy says that we should really get an upgrade at least every two years.
Anyway, I’m hankering over a thinkpad tablet.

I switched to Macs because I got a good deal on one and they’re definitely built better.
Its not so much the aesthetics as the build quality, not to mention the re-sale value of the products.
I prefer a well made product without compromises on performance and the MBP’s seemed like the natural choice.
I have both OSX and Windows 7 on my MBPs so I can run applications from both systems.

The first one I had was the white macbook in 2007 and good build quality they weren’t. It was plagued with problems, the worst being that the adaptors were overheating and melting the power cable.

I’m not a fan of Macbooks, I’ve never owned one of those.
The Macbook Pros are where its at.
Reliability might be on par with PC’s though I suppose.
So all these Macs vs PCs arguments are moot.
The decided factor being personal preference.
For me the synergy of build, aesthetics, reliability and performance is relativey better expressed in Macs.

There are no reasons to buy a mac over a pc.
Apple Products are over priced, over packaged and restricted.
Just take a look at the ipad, you can not easily store your mp3’s or videos without going through itunes (where you pay) It has no file system or access to the hardrive. Or a usb port for that matter. Apple want you to marry into itunes so they can take more of your money.

Well then there’s also no reason to buy a Ferrari over a souped up Lancer.
The souped up lancer can go faster (Than some Ferraris) and will be cheaper! It will also have a stereo and rear seating for two!

Macs and PC’s are comparable these days and NOT world’s apart. You would do better to perhaps look around a bit more?
By that standards why don’t we all wear the same clothes, eat the same food and start acting the same as everyone else?

Macbooks were discontinued for a reason. Apple has focused on iMacs, Air and pro now. They are the first one to experiment with a flash memory rather than a hard drive and dang it works like a charm. I own a macbook air and its so light. After carrying laptops and practically destroying my shoulders for over 7 years, I find Air a breath of fresh air. (oh the irony)
performance wise, there are not many concerns. One should work on Mac and windows with i5 processor with 4 gb ram and you will notice a visible difference. Battery time is just so superb that the likes of business laptops (Dell, HP) can only dream of with even much lighter specs.
And on a slightly different note, I dont get why other companies havent caught up to make lighter laptop chargers like Apples has? They just add to the mobility pain.

This is a never-ending debate. Both sides will be adamant upon the features and functions of their systems. Both systems have their own pros & cons and certainly cater to the needs of specific niches (e.g. Macs for designers & PCs for quant apps).

Seb - I know that. I think it’s just absurd to refer to their build quality all the time. There are always problems, which they fix in newer models. Okay, the pro’s are much better but then look at how much you are paying. It’s not like the macbook was cheap either to justify the problems with it.
I bought an iphone and returned it within a week. I felt suffocated. But that’s just me. And virtually all iphone users I know have had a broken screen at some point or other. I drop my HTC everyday and it’s still going.

Your analogy is wrong on so many levels, assuming an apple mac device is comparable to a Ferrari, all other simialr products are inferior stupid and devices. When you buy a Ferrari your not told which roads you can drive on are you?
Yes it is wrong to extort money from a customer that has already paid for the item. They already made money from selling you the item. You should be able to use the device any way you wish without software restricting what you view or display.
