Check your facts mate, in prehistoric times, before mankind settled down, women had a equal share in finding food.

Not really, women were mainly restricted to gathering what they could locally (firewood, farming, etc.) which you can associate with taking care of the home, while men would be involved in hunting, fighting for their territory, etc. hence providing for their families. Women were just as involved but there is no doubt that they had a different role.

^True. So the situation was much the same as it is now. There is a glass ceiling that is observed in how far women can ride up the power ladder (in terms of high power positions). As women were gatherers, they could fulfill their and their kids' basic necessities, but couldn't go out and hunt, which means they couldn't provide their offsprings with enough protein or fat. Now, I don't know how long we can survive on low protein diet, but we'd agree that the hunt back then brought in more calories, thus a nutritionally better life.

Women continue to be faced with that problem because they value offsprings and their health more highly than having more "protein and fat" for themselves. But they'd still like more of that for their offsprings.

BUT, huge one. We live in a completely different society now (especially talking about North America and Europe). Women have enough resources and opportunities to go out and make it a better place for their offsprings than they could before. Also, many men aren't just content with being the breadwinners. They want more meaning in their lives and they want to be actively involved fathers. So, if you find yourself a willingly active father, you will have a lot more resources to go out and provide for yourself and your offsprings, zobia.

Guys, i am not asking what is the preconceived notion, and what should be the way. i am asking what what, who, and how this idea gets into their head and let em adopt it.

I didn’t mention a scientific fact. Its not difficult to imagine that humans tend to clump together in like minded groups. Men tend to give importance to their social circle. They’re more likely to go out with the boys and talk out their stuff. Girls on the other hand are ingrained because they spend more time with their mothers and its generally accepted most girls don’t do BFFs, just girls they get along with (Again exceptions are there).

Finally I do admit this isn’t a universal rule. Its an ancient saying and like all things old the stereotypes are vastly different in different societies we encounter. I’m not actually sexist, I absolutely appreciate all women :blush: so you’re really not going to get me into the chronic men vs women argument. I do however have fair observation. And that rule does stand do for most Pakistani men and women. In time though, it’ll be different :wink:

Haha. Reminds me of when House rejects a female doctor he interviews because she wore uncomfortable heels and hence had insecurity issues (yes I've been on a House marathon lately).

the title specifically says girls, and to make it more focused, i mentioned the girls who asked for rich husbands.
