Upto 90s, a serial was limited to 13 epiosdes covering multi tracks stories, without unnecessary scenes.
Today’s dramas on one track stories could not convey the message effectively even in 26 episodes. Look at Zindagi Gulzar hai, whats special in the theme that has not been covered in more than 20 episodes.
Is it something about director’s skills? I don’t think so, it was Sultana Siddiqui who produced ‘Ye Zindagi’ in 90s on controversial topic of Halala and covered the story alongwith other tracks in just 11 episodes.
Do our today’s writers know how to say things effectively and without derailing?
Do you know that American serials/dramas/soap operas never end? There are serials that have been on the air for 60 years! They just keep evolving and evolving lol!
I have stopped watching dramas these days since I find them all so repetitive, ek hee dialogue baar baar baar bole jate hain, so so annoying. So sick of hearing lines such as "*main theek hoon" and "ye aap kia keh rahay hain". *

agree, dialogues in most of the serials are either superficial or vulgar in some cases besides using English words in all the sentences. We grow watching PTV dramas and one of the reason we know comparatively better Urdu from today's generation in due to Urdu used in those serials.

i know a person who works in a drama production house , he told me that private channels are in big financial crisis although they pretend as all is well, so they drag episodes unnecessarily just to gain more and more commercials and they try their best to avoid outdoor shootings. Even sarmad khoosat was not happy with dragging of humsafar.
Umera Ahmed also complained about this derailment / dragging and one of the reasons she stopped working with A&B Production is unnecessary dragging of scripts. But I’m confused whether she doesn’t know that Momina Duraid is also dragging her scripts?
well private organizations/ channels cant be compared to the government levels. Private channels are like k "apni jaib se kharch karna padta hai"...
But, wo apna kharch pora kr to lety hain itny sary commercials sy like they did with Mein Abdul Qadir hoon, it was a 4 episode novel in real which they dragged it to 20 plus episodes, more commercials more money.
