It seems everyone is modifying the definition of FOB to exclude themselves from this label. Three years abroad, correct grammar, light accent, no Bad Odor, etc. and you are not a FOB. That's BS really. A FOB is a FOB is a FOB and will always remain a FOB. It is very difficult to transform a FOB.
Like that US Senator once famously said, "I can not define pornography but I know when I see it".
Similarly, "I can't define a FOB but I know when I see one".
I love how a lot of ‘fobs’ have a problem with being called that but will happily label others ‘coconuts’..

So would you say that you don't agree with that definition?

more like any new immigrant to a country where he has not adjusted and does not fit in well due to language, dressing, interacting etc
the term FOB was used by Chinese americans way before desis used it

To me FOBs are very much set in their own primitive ways and unwilling to change according to the needs of the new environment they are in.
So it was first used by the Chinese? I would have thought the Cubans who all came to the US in a boat or a raft.

^^ no that was the white/spanish man who brought smallpox/flu in ships.
That is why everyone is wary of fobs. The gora-logh were dirty smelly immigrants who brouht disease, stole, took indigenous land and job and made the place a very unhappy one for all.
Can we blame the stereotypes perpetuation?

ok here is the litmus test for detecting a FOB (no matter girl or guy)
Ask his/her email address if he/she says
xxxxx AT THE RATE OF yyy.com chances are you are dealing with FOB
and if address is like [email protected] then you can bet your life on him/her being FOB
Some people define it as

hmm interesting...I personally prefer the company of good old fobs and straight up abcds over a variety called the wannabe yaps who are basically neither here nor there...oh ya they exist.
