Why Purdah is considered as a sign of backwardness?

Re: Why Purdah is considered as a sign of backwardness?

If purda was forced it was forced centuries ago and then it got acceptance in our societies and didn’t remained forced on next generations. It became part of dressing which was considered modest as per cultural norms (leaving aside religious commandments for the time being). On other hand one can argue that thought to get women out of purda is also forced on people who had acceptability of purda in their society.

There are two sides of picture and media unfortunately portrays one side most of the times. There are duties and roles defined for each gender in a society. They can be changed and we have seen them changing over the period. Ladies doing purda are present in almost all the fields, which says that who consider purda as an impediment conveniently ignore such population while making these propositions.
