In Pakistan, Punjabi is more of a dilect and has no grammar or alphabets (like sindhi has its own), so you can teach punjabi history and literature, but not a language.

But we don’t see much Punjabi literature being published after Independence compared to other regional languages literature. They have to develop their alphabets to create new literature. Neither Sindhis can rely on only ‘Shah jo Risalo’ nor Punjabi on ‘Heer Waris Shah’, when we talk about latest trends in literature.
